3. Progressives prefer to be hanged separately than to lose any of their "purity"
and make a difference

4. Stop it.
If you want to insult progressives, start your own thread.

6. You should also "stop it".
The future of our country is not a sporting event.

11. My point?
Allow me to preface this by admitting that I often enjoy a well-placed snark. Often for the sake of simply being a smartass. I do that sort of thing quite often, and I'll readily admit it. That said; I have no intention of desmartassifying (new word!) myself. Ever.

That said, how do I begin?....

It's my belief that most DUers agree on most issues most of the time. We're all in the same boat.

15. Ben Franklin.
Probably the most forward-thinking man in the past 300 years. I was just calling him "Crazy Ben" to be silly.

10. He was actually quoting Oliver Cromwell
Who said that to a meeting in the lead up to the Civil War.

The American revolutionaries had studied carefully the legal arguments used by the Parliamentary side to justify rebellion. Franklin knew that his audience would know the quote.

13. Thanks, I did not know that and it puts a whole new spin on the Franklin
quote. I knew that he was referring to their need to unite against the English but thought that was all it was about.

19. Ben was good for some quotes
"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." I am not a god person, but that is a quote I can get behind. Or on top of. Or under. As long as I have a glass.

20. Franklin, Twain, Vonnegut, & Asimov.
The real Fab Four.

There are many others, but those are my favorites.
