A Natinal Forest Service guy on Maddow's show said there is no way to clean the marshland
He does think it has a fair to middling chance to regenerate, but that there is no way to clean it through human intervention. We can steam clean a rocky shore, we can sweep and shovel sandy beach. But the marsh - the cradle of life for the Gulf - is so fragile that any attempt to remove the oil will remove the essence of the life it supports.

By the way, I LOVE the way Rachel gets treated with obvious respect (admiration?) by everyone with whom she interacts on her show.

2. I think steam cleaning isn't good either
I've read that using hot water on the Exxon Valdez spill is one of the worst things they did. Steaming hot water is an excellent weed killer.

Just sayin', I don't know that they've got a truly good solution for rocky shores either.

4. I do too Stinky - somehow she enchanteds her guests before they go on air - rarely, if ever, any
snark. It makes for a better show.

6. I think the damage beyond comprehension-
and BP has an inkling but is seeking to cover the ramifications
of their greedy rape scene for as long as possible.

11. I think tears are a healthy response to this tragedy.
Sure, anger, outrage and "let's unite against them" are immediate
and predictable reactions as well- but the bottom line is "it's too late."

The damage is done, it can't be undone, and deep sadness is
the only feeling that remains.

7. She treats the scientists with respect and generally keeps her mouth shot and learns and listens
most people could learn something from that attitude.

Many species' numbers will dwindle throughout the country as so many species migrate through there.

12. I think
she did a great job of showing the wetlands and marshes. They are beautiful. I have not seen anything like that on any other shows.
