28th NATO Soldier Dies in Afghanistan This Week

KABUL — A NATO soldier was killed in a bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan Saturday, the military said, the 28th to die in the troubled country this week.

The soldier, whose nationality was not released, was part of NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), whose estimated 142,000 troops in Afghanistan are set to increase to 150,000 by August.

The death came during a violent week for the military which included the killing of four US soldiers, when Taliban militants shot down a helicopter in the southern province of Helmand.

1. Rec back to zero.

There's a crowd here that unrecs pretty much any reality about the current state of our adventures.

This year's American soldier death tally is already greater than any of the first seven years of the occupation.

The Afghanistan adventure is not going well, especially if you consider the fact that we are spending $200,000 a minute in the sandbox.

2. So far, the only year that has been deadlier, was last year.

Yet, each month this year has been at least double the same month from last year.
