Predictions for the US v UK football match?
Mine, I rarely watch football (I know Americans call it "soccer") but you can not really avoid football for the next month. So in the spirit of football fun - my prediction 3-1 to the UK.

1. The US plays lax defense for the first half, and the UK players take a gushy shit in US beer supply

15. Thankyou
Now I have the name of this terrible device. The World Cup is barely a day old and I'm sick of this awful noise already.

18. Classes are out, and I'd planned on watching
several matches, but given this annoying sound I'll probably only watch a few games that really interest me. If I watch any others it'll be with the sound off.

23. No kidding.
geeze. I love the bagpipe, but I HATE listening to them warm up . . . and that awful sound is apparently the sum total of the range of the vuvuzela.

arg.

Oh - 2-0 UK . . . an early goal is bad news and a sore keeper is worse. I'm afraid the US is in trouble.

I'd like to see a draw, really - I want them both to go forward.

Which is total bullshit.

I am not a soccer fan.

But I hear England is good. So I say they'll win 2-1.

8. I predict that the Brits will win by three touchdowns.
Wait...what...sorry...I mean by six tries...wait...that's not right, either.

Anyhow, I hope the Americans hit a grand slam.

Crap! Never mind.

14. Always depends.
The US has the better keepers. A lot of the players do have experience in the European leagues. Some of the other players need to step up besides Donovan. Altidore will help if has recovered from his injury. Donovan is all anybody generally hears about besides Beckham in the MSM.

I want to see Messi play at some point, but they say Maradona is messing with him and using the wrong players and strategy.

Clint Dempsy is a wild card. He can pull things out of the air like he did against Juventus. The coach said one reason he put him on the Olympic squad is because he would 'try shit.' His life story is very interesting. He's from Nacogdoches.

It's in London, but I'll say 2-1 US.

Are you going to start that?

All games have a chance of that. England could just have easily gotten one of those breaks. It's part of any game whether you like it or not.

A bad play is one way to get a break. However, claiming that it was pity is an insult to both teams and bad sportsmanship. period.

22. I sent an e-mail to ESPN after the matches yesterday...
got a stock reply, but at least it was specific to the topic - sort of tells you how many complaints they've had about it. Someone on another board says that BBC have tweaked their sound and it isn't as bad on their channels.

34. I'm just trying to figure out why this Louge topic is in GD.
Baseball, football, basketball - NO. But soccer? Sure, why not?

It's a game.

You're right, though. It's a matter of opinion among sports, none of which I follow. Sports are fun to play, but watching them played is a different matter, unless one's kids or grandkids are playing.

Edited on Sat Jun-12-10 02:45 PM by malaise
than the US beating England so early in the WC. Just the pain in the English commies voices would be orgasmic for hubby and me.

USA has improved big time and the last time they beat England was in the 1950 WC - exactly 60 years ago.

2-1 USA
