New logical fallacies created just for the Teabaggers
You've heard of the "Ad hominem" fallacy:
"You can't believe Jack when he says the proposed policy would help the economy. He doesn't even have a job."

"Appeal to tradition" fallacy:
"Marriage should remain between a man and a woman, because it's been that way for thousands of years."

"Argumentum ad populum" fallacy:
"America is a Christian Nation because over 80% of the US is Christian."

But have you heard of these brand spanking new fallacies?

"Appeal to number of guns" fallacy:
Jim and Bob are in an argument
Bob has more guns and hand grenades than Jim
Therefore, Bob is right

"Argument from blurting out different ideologies and villainous figures throughout history" fallacy:
Tom is clearly right about Obama, every other word in his speech was either "Socialism", "Nazi", "Marxist", or "Hitler".

"Argument from loudness" fallacy:
Tim is at a townhall meeting with his Congressman
Tim is totally drowning out his Congressman and going "Lalalala!"
Therefore, Tim is right

How many can you can think of?

1. Argument from appearances: Must be a good person & worthy leader, because s/he's so attractive.

9. Re: Argument from appearances: Must be a good person & worthy leader, because s/he's so attractive.
That must be the explanation for Carlie Fiorina --- even though she totally screwed up both Lucent and Hewlett-Packard.

13. The test would be to see if a comparable screw up by a pretty person at the bottom of the
salary heap would result in the same consequences.

14. No.
Such a screw up would result in a demotion -- followed shortly by a termination.

15. So there must be some other logic at work, rather than Argument by Pretty, probably Argument
by status: The lower you are in the hierarchies of power, the more it's all your fault.

21. Yeah, everything would be just fine if it weren't for the poor.
:sarcasm:

But, you know what, I think there actually are people who think that way all of the time.

19. Disagree -- the attractive ones are cut so much more slack at all levels
Especially if their manager is of the complimentary sexual persuasion. Hetero male boss will forgive pretty female underling, etc.

2. There's nothing new about the "Appeal to number of guns" fallacy.
That's the driving force of World History.

Appeal to insane authority: Glenn Beck says it, so it must be true.
