Bush: "My mission is to -- today, though – is to lift people's spirits"
VIDEO: Bush consoles Kansas tornado victims

<snip>

“Our role as government officials is to work with the states and local folks to get whatever help is appropriate here, whatever help is in the law be here as quickly as possible,’’ the president said. “My mission is to -- today, though – is to lift people's spirits as best as I possibly can and to hopefully touch somebody's soul by representing our country, and to let people know that while there was a dark day in the past, there's brighter days ahead.’’

a moron running the country. Notice the comment "is appropriate". In other words, we will screw you where we can.

8. It is very easy to see he's full of shit...anyone who has
compassion and empathy would not attempt a prepared statement, but would speak from the heart. When one does that, thye rarely speak in such idiotic language and w/gaffes galore; he is trying to push himself into an emotional reality, and since he has no emotions, as most sociopaths are prone, he can't do it.

Want to slow down the melting of the glaciers? Send bush to the North Pole and Cheney to the South, as cold as those hearts are, re-freeze would take less than 45 minutes.

9. My spirit is lifted already...
No, wait, it's back. How on earth can he say that while Tony Snow and Sam Brownback argue that the fact that Kansas' national guard's equipment is in Iraq isn't a problem?

Chimpy thinking: "Oooh, a natural disaster! Photo ops!" Bet he'll be on the evening news in a plaid shirt swinging a hammer.

Bonus quote: “There is a lot of destruction," the president said. “Fortunately, a lot of folks had basements here in this part of the world..." Man, is that straight out of Dr. Strangelove or what?

16. didn't the tornado strike basically without warning? can't get into your basement if there isn't
time.

every time I wonder how much more ignorant and oblivious he can appear, he shows me. I am so tired of being embarrassed before my friends in other countries.

20. There was a 20 minute warning, I believe.
Looking at the complete devastation left in it's wake, I can't imagine what the death toll would have been without that warning.

31. Uh, didn't Little Boots even LOOK at the aerial photographs?
Concrete slab after concrete slab after concrete slab. In fact, one of the items under discussion for rebuilding Greensburg is the need for more people to have basements rather than slab homes.

Fucking dumbass.

His mission is to "hopefully touch somebody's soul by representing our country?" Wait. I thought he was the Commander Guy. It's hard to believe there are "brighter days ahead" when the commander guy has completely screwed the war on terror. We are at risk, at war, and will be for decades to come. Touch my soul, and resign.

26. I saw "skirts" the first time I saw this headline....
For him to lift my spirits he would have to attempt japanese ritual seppeku with a rusty can opener, singing an aria fron "Die Gottdamerung" while dressed as Homey the Clown. I might find that amusing.
