"You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you."
That's a quote from Eric Hoffer and it's part of the signature line of a poster on another forum. She used to post here.

It occurred to me that, if this is true,---and that seems likely---the teabaggers and those who lead them around by the nose must be case studies in neuroses and sociopathology.

You could select several different topics that they seem to push to instill fear in anyone who will listen. But, as an over-arching theme, they urge us to fear anyone or anything that is "different". And, to about 98% of them, "different" is anyone who is not white, heterosexual,"the right kind" of Christian(or claiming to be), born in America and 100% supportive all things extremely conservative.

So, people of color frighten teabaggers. So do foreigners, gays, liberals, moderates, traditional Republicans, muslims, Jews, Buddhist, Sikhs---and Pastafarians.

When we realize that that list includes over 90% of the population, it's no small wonder that teabaggers are so often wild-eyed, shrill, foam-at-the-mouth haters. They're on the verge of losing control of their bowels most of their waking hours.

BOO!

1. Very True, Sir
It is commonly true as well that the degree of fear a person displays towards some other is the measure of the wrong they know they have done that other....

11. They assume that they will be served "just desserts".
Which may or may not be the case, depending on who they abused, and how and where...

3. An extremely fearful dog may bare his teeth and snarl and even
attack if the fear becomes overwhelming--just as a rabid one. But, the first is amenable to understanding, reassurance, and revised expectations; the latter is not. Unfortunately, I think many teabaggers are of the latter category.

8. A poster elsewhere
used a Youtube video to "prove" his point that anti Tea baggers were violent. "out of frustration as the movement gains popularity".
Well the vid showed an older Black guy get called an "Un-American Nigger". The Black guy hit the tea bagger in the face... (I do not blame him)
Well all the tea baggers started yelling for the Police.

my response was the tea baggers sure were fast in calling for the "socialist police force" and if i were on the jury I would vote to aquit as the black guy was provoked ". obviously because the tea bagger was losing the argument.

there was no response.

But yes I was tossed off of the local paper comment boards for being a "provocateur". As I have been using those fears of the conservatives to lure them into saying really stupid things.

in the 30's? We may end up regretting not watching these goons and their masters a little more closely.

24. K&R. Very thought-provoking. Thank you.
Here's another one that I like, seems applicable to recent events. I got it from AA, but it originally came from Albert Einstein:

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Because they are unable to imagine how people could think any differently from how they think.

30. It's not hard to fathom
The real teabaggers are being paid off by the powers that be. The dimwitted volunteers fear CHANGE.

The powers that be like things the way they are, so their natural stooges are the people who will fight to the death to keep things the way they are.

31. I'm sorry, but....
...that's just not what I am seeing out there. Xenophobia? Yes, Prejudice? Yes. Frothing at the mouth? Nope. Vandalism? Nope.

I saw as much at the WTO riots in Seattle, though. I think it has to do with protests being loud and confrontational.

But, you have a vivid imagination.
