2. I remember Hyacinth Bucket telling people that Richard
had gout. . ("A condition of the upper classes")

Now he has gone and ruined gout's stellar reputation. . . sigh

36. It was just a wealthy man's disease
because they had all those rich foods laden with calories and they would stuff themselves like pigs for the slaughter.

I remember seeing pictures of ol kings with their swollen foot and leg up on a hassack with the gout.

8. It can be treated
but for some people it takes major lifestyle changes. Is he willing to give up a lot of what he eats and drinks? I doubt it, judging from his unwillingness to change his attitude about anything else.

Should we protest Cheney's presence by jumping up and down in large numbers in his presence and hope that he feels the vibrations, or is this why Dick and Buckaroo have created those "Free Speech Zones" at least a quarter mile away from wherever he deigns to gift folks with his presence?

25. No, probably syphilis for Henry (as far as what killed him)
But I believe that he also had gout.

Years ago in BC there was a cartoon where the father ant was sitting there with his leg on a stool and his little boy asked what was wrong. "I have gout", the father said. The son ran outside and yelled, "we're rich! we're rich!"

I think it was a condition that only rich people used to get, mainly because they ate so many fatty foods.

Lobster Thermidor for lunch every day, smothered in a Lovely Dill-hazelnut sauce. Mmmmm....
Topped off with a chestnut parfait, flown in direct from France, even.

Holds up his champagne glass, "Cheers!"

Good for you Buddy. I hope you enjoyed it.

32. My husband
had his first (and luckily, his only) case of gout 2 years ago. He says he's suffered innumerable injuries from his jock days and those were nothing compared to the pain of gout.

So, Cheney has gout -- cry me a river. :sarcasm:
