21. Instead get this post card and send it to the RNC.
Edited on Thu May-10-07 01:42 AM by liberaldemocrat7
I doubt they will get to the Speaker of the House.

You do realize that mail to congress gets screened by homeland security ever since the right wing Anthrax killer sent anthrax in the mail to Tom Daschle and patrick Leahy.

Instead get this post card and send it to the RNC

It has a picture of Caligula and Bush on the back and on the front it tells the RNC to get George W Bush to end the war and then resign or you will boycott War contractor and Republican contributor General Electric products.

18. I don't happen to think she needs this
it's condescending

Petition one of the committees to get on with their investigations to produce the evidence IN CONGRESS that we need to carry something like impeachment forward. How could she block clear evidence which would lead to convictions? She wouldn't.

But most folks have a completely unrealistic notion of how an impeachment process is able to advance. This stunt won't make that happen any sooner. She's not the obstacle. She's one congressperson with one vote.

6. If you print & FAX the label it'll get there a whole lot FASTER...!!!
All mail into D.C. still has to go through WEEKS long wait to be checked for anthrax -- and who knows how long it will take for a food item - canned or not to get to her office.

FAX the label!

:kick:

I heard something on the radio... why not just let the postal workers pick them up during the food drive???

Edit to add:

It is! It's on the 13th.

17. Just out of PURE curiousity and NOT asking in a nasty tone of voice...
...how did that bottled water stunt work out?

Y'all remember, the one after Katrina, when we were all supposed to ship a small bottle of water to the White House?

Media never picked up on it that I heard
(and I'm SO shocked!) :sarcasm:

20. The point is not the cans or even this particular tactic. The point is the message.
The many different ways this same message is sent, either directly to her OR indirectly to everybody else around her. THAT is what's critical. All this post proves is that people here are THINKING. And that's not a bad thing, guys. Using our imaginations, being clever, being shrewd, being tacticians, experimenting, being creative - it's ALL good and it's ALL worthwhile. The points about the anthrax hurdle for regular snailmail to go through - those are unfortunately a reality. Especially if it's on a can of food. She'll never see it. But sending the labels is great. Faxing them is great. Emailing them is great. PHONE-CALLS are undoubtely best (see my sig line for some TOLL FREE Capitol Hill switchboard numbers listed for your convenience).

The point is that these messages are being thought up, kicked around, fine-tuned, embellished, enhanced, refined. AND THEN ACTED UPON. THAT'S the point. That's the ONLY point. To get the message to her and everybody else in Washington - whether they're ours OR NOT. The story reported by tim russert on NBC this very evening - about a "gang of 11" republi-CONS in the House going to the White House to tell bush he's lost all credibility on the war - that's a terrific step forward. It means even THEY in the Dark Side are getting hammered. When John Murtha goes onto one of the Sunday talk shows and speaks of hearing more and more about IMPEACHMENT from callers into his office, THAT says something rawther striking. If he's saying this, he's getting inundated. They ALL are.

The mere fact that people are trying to come up with many different approaches for getting the same message across - THAT IS EXCELLENT!!! Everyone here is to be applauded!!! Because what we're doing is WORKING. We're finally making an impact. We are making progress here.

Please remember: There WAS a time, not so very long ago, when nobody dared bring up IMPEACHMENT in the mainstream. Nobody wanted to think about it. It just wasn't done. You were a Saddam sympathizer or an Osama-lover or otherwise traitorous and unAmerican if you did so. IMPEACHMENT was The-Thing-That-Must-Not-Be-Spoken. That is NOT so anymore. And OUR efforts helped make that possible and helped this country advance to this point, at long last. Now, IMPEACHMENT is everywhere, spoken about in polite company, even! Now, IMPEACHMENT is the 800-pound gorilla in EVERY room. We've taken the concept of IMPEACHMENT from the impossible to the POSSIBLE. And we're not going to stop now, are we?
