Ohio church plans to REBUILD TD-J! Fire loss estimated at $700,000 by fire chief...

Link from ABC: http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/news/national/ohio-church-plans-to-rebuild-destoryed-'touchdown-jesus'-statue

Where does a "Solid Rock" fundamentalist church get this kind of money? The TouchDown Jesus I cost around $250,000, but damage caused by the lightening stroke was estimated at $700,000 - nearly $1 million total for a plastic statue, albeit a very large one...

That is a lot of tithing and a lot of money in the collection plate, people...and to me it says that is't time to tax all church property; if they have that kind of money, something is wrong...

Bet the marble that went into "the Pieta" was cheaper.

3. How many hungry people could they feed with that money???
One might think that the people of that church MIGHT consider that lightning strike a sign that they could do better thing with their money than build pagan icons...

4. obscene...
I wonder if any of these "good people" have actually read what Jesus purportedly had to say about such idolatry and nonsense...

Hypocrisy, exploitation and religion is a nasty mix.

22. There's another message there too.
God didn't smite the huge adult video store sign across the highway from the church.

6. The fire also damaged a building
The cost was not just for Big Butter. A church member interviewed on the radio yesterday claimed that Jesus sacrificed himself to save the church building.

10. "The DE-VIL ... will NOT ... defeat us!"
Oh, yeah, it's the Devil. You'd better believe that's how it will be told. I can hear the sermon now.

"Satan, not lightning, did this. Lightning was merely his tool."

"But preacher, how could God let this happen?"

"God is testing us, testing our resolve. Will we back down, or we will stand up and say "DEVIL I SMITE YOU!"

And then the fund raising will start in earnest.

We don't know much about God, but we do know he needs our money (thanks George Carlin).

19. Note to God: Message delivered to the people, not understood.
Because it's OK to hate people, condemn them, discriminate against them if you have a huge statue of Jesus out front. :eyes:
