What are we going to do AFTER the November election?
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 10:23 AM by anthroguy101
What is President Obama's strategy? Is he actually going to listen to these nuts, or is he going to be more like Bill Clinton? What are we going to do if the Tea Party does, in fact, "take back Congress." How are we going to face a potential GOP candidate in 2012? What is our battle strategy? What are we going to do? I think now is the time to start asking ourselves these very important questions.

1. Nothing...
All of a sudden the excuse will be that with the 2012 election 'just around the corner', the President needs to move to the right and avoid the controversial stuff.

2. It all depends upon the outcome

Everything moves as far to the right as the Congress moves.

4. What if they win? What if they lose?
I shudder at either outcome. If they win, the Tea Party and its flames might die down, but then the Republicans would have power. That is very bad in and of itself, and I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. However, if they lose, the Tea Party will only become more vocal until they do take power.

3. I expect a lot of fingerpointing, and a universal insistance....
...in the face of all the evidence, that there are vast untapped hordes of progressive non-voters out there who would have turned out, and turned the election around, had we nominated real progressives this time.

5. After the November election.....

We will be introduced to 'fiscal responsibility' as they begin the tear down of Social Security.

Merry Christmas

6. I will continue to vote in what I see as my best interests, my families best interest...
and the nations best interest.

I will write my congressmen and advocate strong regulation of energy industries.
I will call for an expansion of the Coast Guard so we actually have the equipment and men in place to handle a spill.
I will advocate changing the laws passed after Exxon Valdez, so companies must pay for cleanup but also must place stopping such things as the Asphalt Volcano without worrying about company profits. (This probably means that a specific response unit is created within the Coast Guard to respond to this type of emergency and stop it in its tracks.)
I will advocate improvements to health care legislation.
Since you postulated the tea party taking congress, I will oppose the impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama with all my energy.

8. Impeaching Obama is political suicide in the long run...
That would make the GOP look very bad from a historical standpoint. They already dug themselves a hole, but that would make them hit bedrock.

11. Wel, probably, but that didn't stop them with Clinton...
And, thought it hurt a few, it kept them in power. What they will do is begin a 24/7 investigation into Obama.

We will hear how he stopped all the flights at LAX for a haircut. (The lie worked under Clinton)
We will hear how Obama murdered a friend and made it look like suicide.
They will throw shit against the wall until something sticks.

7. We will look at all the reelected incumbents, we will NOT remember how
we complained about congress saying things like "We can change things at the mid term elections."

Then for the next two years we will complain about congress and say things like "We need to make some changes."
