Ok here is a theory
and yes I am going to go deep into tin foil territory.

1.- The Dems are NOT willing to play or challenge how insecure our electoral system is. No, did not start with Green or last week, ok. This has been ongoing for twelve years or so.

2.- We KNOW we are on the down side of the peak oil curve.

3.- We also know that the American Empire is pretty much done...

Ok here is a crazy theory... and good for a Friday afternoon... dems DON'T want to be in charge when the shit hits that fan... and when it does it will be something epic... just a thought.

And I rarely go down onto tinfoil territory, but hey it is Friday.

1. I think it's the Repukes who don't want to be in charge
They never clean up their own messes.

3. ALL repukes and most dems
have no idea of what is coming... and repukes love power, for power sake. But look at the pattern. They do not challenge broken elections or even obvious thefts.

2. eh, maybe so
inasmuch as who really cares who's in charge if it just becomes a fight for survival?

but I think that shit's gonna hit the fan not all at once, but starting sort of slow and worsening (well until this latest ultimate clusterfuck...this one takes the cake).

I never thought I'd live to see things get like this, even.

5. The past is prologue
and the US has had periods like this before. The people usually wake up and take to the streets, in metaphorical and real ways. But now I am starting to think something more than just stinks. Greene I went this is blatant, on the face of it, but the Party will not challenge any of this... and demand PAPER ballots. And they are convinced that they even DISCUSS how insecure the elections truly are, people will just stay home.

Well, most parties around the world faced with the same choice take it all the way to the courts. So I am going... WTF is going on?

Admittedly this is tin foil, but hey... it is Friday.

People just stay home...they're utterly defeated, and most don't even know it. It can only end in tears.

There aren't 2 parties. We have the illusion of 2 parties. It's one party, nadin.

6. That's one theory of course
but having had a very interesting conversation with a SITTING US Senator, there is more to this... than just that.

Let's just say that at the height of Bush they were afraid for their lives.

10. We had the chance to talk to a SITTING US Senator
while in Hawaii. I paid for the coffee, and among many of the subjects touched, well after the Anthrax they all realized all phones were listened to, and there were active threats against them. Why Daschle was given a Secret Service team, which is not normal. And why to this day if you want something to reach them NOW, use email, or fax, or their state offices.

They were afraid of personal matters used in the press, creatively mind you... or invented scandals. So pretty much they went along. When we asked why didn't they do to the press? I have never seen anybody laugh that hard. They know a coup happened, but they could not fight against it, or chose not to.

19. Tell me why it would make a difference who was incharge
when this country implodes??

When it implodes there will be a two tier system.
Rulers and serfs. The rulers will jockey among themselves for more power and the serfs
will try to figure out a way to overthrow the rulers.
That is if another country does not come in and try to take over.
The military will not willingly go along with the rulers.
Could be a power struggle between those two factions.

Now if you want to get into tin foil land.............

a few history books realize that when the country implodes it will not matter. But in their minds... you might still be able to come to the rescue and be the hero of the hour. It don't make sense, but humans rarely make sense, especially humans who like power.

28. No that those not really fightging
and conceding obvious thefts, believe they will be the white knights. Reality is they will be scrapping with the rest of us, and worst case scenario they will be blamed for the mess and suffer a worst case than I care to imagine. But in their minds, they will be those white knights.

22. Here's how I view it: they are all just servants to Empire...
Edited on Fri Jun-18-10 09:04 PM by Robeson
...capitalizing on their positions, they want to get their kids in the best schools, line their pockets as much as possible, and increase their status/egos as much as they can. They probably give a flip about issues such as global warming, and are much more concerned about what peer group they can be accepted too, or who can feed their base pride. A few do care, but, they are few. Rudolf Marku said it way better than I could:

Caligula's horse

And it came to pass that Caligula's horse
Was proclaimed senator.

A fair horse, almost divine,
It strode majestically into the hall,
Greeted everyone with due regard,
Taking no notice of rank or office, even of the ministers,
And went straight to its appointed place
Modestly,
As if it were ashamed of being there.

It immediately saw through those around it,
Murderers, profiteers, sycophants, wheelers and dealers
It never assented
to the conquest of other countries,

To the lowering of salaries, or to the raising of prices,
Nor did it take any notice of pompous speeches,
Never did it applaud,
but listened to the speeches of the orators
with sheer indifference
And it never dreamed of taking advantage of its senatorial
position to publish fat books.

On occasion, glancing at the sleepy faces of its citizens,
It would dream of how it used to frolic in the meadows,
Of the clear blue sky, of spring water.

Later it was engulfed by such sorrow
That the senators began looking askance at it,
They began murmuring about its wild past,
About the dubious company it kept, about its unbridled lifestyle.

Nonetheless, it lived a long life
And it used its power better than anyone else had,
That is:
not at all!

...brought this country to a constitutional crisis. We can't pull the curtain down, and blow the myth that we run fair elections.

It has always been my assumption, the reason we - Democrats - don't challenge results, is that we are probably the positive recipients of shady election results, ourselves.

34. My theory:
Over 92% of the American voters (Democrats and Republicans support Transparent, Verifiable Elections.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x446445

This would be an easy WIN/WIN for the Democratic Party.
So WHY the silence from the "Centrist" Democratic Party Leadership?
Especially after tow provable stolen election (200 & 2004)?
.
.
.
.
.
The ONLY logical answer is that they PREFER unverifiable elections.
Because elections are too important to trust the American Voters.
The top 1% actually fear the numbers of the Unwashed American Working Class because we far outnumber them.

"By their works you will know them."
