The politics surrounding BP disaster

I am tired of hearing about the Bartons and Bachmans.
I am tired of hearing the constant political scorecard keeping as it relates to this ecological nightmare.
I don't give a rat's ass about which political party or "expert" sounds better at a Congressional hearing or who looks the toughest.
I don't care if that slimebag Tony Hayward says stupid shit or that the filthy Repukes line up to defend BP.

Where are the realtime questions being asked that focus on what is happening 5000 feet deep in the gulf NOW?

This political show is a distraction and even the Olbermans and Maddows play along.
How Obama's speech came across...the replaying of pig Barton's comments constantly...etc...

Here are a few I'd like answered.

What is the scientific information concerning this volcano?
Have independent scientists and marine biologists taken a submersible down there to take an objective look?
Is the well casing ruptured?
Is the earth beneath the blow-off preventer being eroded by the 11,000 pounds per square inch pressure?
Are there fractures and fissures along the sea floor surrounding this "accident"?
Is oil and toxic gas spewing from other related areas other than the cut pipe?
Is this thing even stoppable?

But no...all the corporate TV and Radio electronic media, from both a right and slight left (there is no real "Left" on the MSM),...all they seem to focus on is the political ramifications of this crime against nature.

1. I have a suggestion for you
Stay away from political forums and cable news stations, because the politics of the situation are going to be discussed in such venues whether you like it or not.

3. Political ramifications are part of life but I'd like those answers too
Bush's politics have made a definite impact on people's lives and they continue to do so. Just ask any Iraqi citizen. Ask people who've lost their jobs because Bush and his predecessors dismantled regulations. Our lives are steeped in politics.

4. Some answers? Maybe?

The huge reservoir of oil is being pressurized by the conversion of liquid oil into gas by the heat in the earth's core.

It probably has been leaking forever thru cracks and fissures in the earth's crust, limited only by the whole width of the earth's layer which caps the reservoir. IOW, the vapor find its way up from the reservoir through miles and miles and miles of small leaks in the crust.

The oil that is entrained in the gulf, from one mile deep to the surface, is well and thoroughly mixed with the water. The oil will slowly dis-entrain and float to the surface, one globule at a time, over a period of unknown and unknowable years.

The media will only tell us the truth after our government answers all the questions.
My advice is don't hold your breath waiting for the media, unless you live down wind.

8. Thing is...
If I can figure this out, then you know BP had it figured out.

BP knew.

BP knew they were taking a huge gamble and yet they didn't do the right thing, and they lost and we lost. And the British pensioners lost.

So.... why isn't the UK nationalizing BP?
It's evident that BP didn't think of, or show much care for, the small people in the UK.

5. Americans are scientific illiterates.
They don't understand "PV=nRT" or F=mA. They want to be entertained by Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin. And what the guy who sounds like the Geico Gekko tells them has got to be true because he sounds like a Geico Gekko.

7. Read TheOilDrum for scientific info..
Profgoose links the latest blogs to DU each day.

TheOilDrum is primarily a peak oil blog.. but has been excellent in their explanations so that non engineers can understand what is happening.

9. Problem is- and it's been exemplified here and elsewhere is that responsible government
Edited on Sat Jun-19-10 09:42 AM by depakid
that acts in the interests of the people and the nation and world at large has been subordinated to crass political and corrupt corporate interests.

The sooner the focus is back on what's important- preventing these disasters in the first place- and creating a culture of honesty, integrity and accountability- the faster we'll be able to deal effectively and responsibly with this and other crimes against nature and our economy.

10. It has been offered, that Nixon
... being the modern day communist he would be were he alive today, was the reason he was forced to resign.

Think about it.... Reagan, and the bushes, got away with 10 times more than Nixon got nailed for, and Clinton got nailed for what?
