I hope the administrators who tacitly or overtly condone "dumping" sick homeless people
have a "personal awakening" involving them or someone they love at some point in the future.....

Bastards. This is what you get when you try to turn caring into a business...it doesn't work with medicine, it doesn't work with schools.

Meyers said she and her staff have begun compiling information on the medical dumping so they can confront the offending hospitals. Pinto said the woman who was found prostrate on the lawn had release papers from Brooke Army Medical Center.

1. I can see by the three posts that you feel strongly about this.

2. I'm a big believer in the phrase:
"But for the Grace of God, there go I."

And I'm not even a religious person..... Even though they lose all their money, friends, possessions and even their sanity, people remain human. And so deserve some shred of human dignity and caring.

3. Rec War. I've noticed somebody on DU doesn't like homeless people
I've posted a few stories regarding the shabby treatment of the homeless on DU.

Since we can now watch the Rec.s something gets, I've noticed that the homeless stories, more so than other types, tend to get down-voted.

So, we either have 5th column freepers, or someone who is a DINO who doesn't like the homeless or someone who honestly doesn't think this is a problem.

Well, whether you un-rec or not, it's still a problem and like my wishes for hospital administration, I hope you come to some sort of "personal awakening" on the issue.

4. And the whole reason this is done,
is because health care isn't a basic human right like it is in first-world countries.

Each day, 273 people die due to lack of health care in the U.S.

We need single-payer health care, not a welfare bailout for the serial-killer insurance agencies.
