CINCINNATI (AP) -- For six years, Chet Sterling has used a camera to shoot black-and-white photographs of surviving relatives of Cincinnati homicide victims.

His goal was to try to make a difference by taking pictures and having people look into the eyes of the survivors to see the impact of the violence.

The 60-year-old Popeyes restaurant manager started shooting his photos after becoming involved with Who Killed Our Kids, a group of victims' families that works to increase awareness of unsolved homicides. He's made portraits of about 50 families.

But the photo sessions have taken a toll and Sterling recently decided to stop.

An exhibit of his photos toured local libraries five years ago and another is being planned.
