What are the requirements to be Attorney General?
I would assume one requirement would be that a person must legally be able to practice law...In other words, be in good standing with their licensing Bar Association.

Now, if I understand correctly, the Attorney General of the United States represents the people of the United States. So hypothetically, could the people of the United States lodge complaints with the Attorney General's licensing Bar Association?

Again hypothetically-In the unforeseen event that the Attorney General is disbarred, could he still legally retain his cabinet position?

Although I guess since they aren't pursuing matters as you would have them, you might see them as such.

14. as I said--AFTER the 2008 election cycle
other than Kucinich

and maybe Edwards, depending on which day it is, which TV show he's on and which lobbying group he's meeting with.

15. Kucinich is a pie in the sky idealist.
What Reid and Pelosi are doing has the virtue of possibly paying off.

17. Well then you and Kucinich have a lot of work to do
Maybe you can go back to convincing Democrats there's no difference between Democrats and Republicans. After all that payed big dividends in 2000, didn't it?

19. Look I support Reid and Pelosi, and I don't support Kucinich
Based on the practicality of both approaches. If Kucinich can make his plans work, than all the better, but I don't think he can and I'm not going to pretend that I do.

I do see Kucinich playing a bit of the spoiler in this election; I think he's pissed at his party. Would he go the Nader route? I don't know.

I also don't know what you mean by "the oligarchy's illegal actions" over the last 25 years (which would, of course, include the Clinton Presidency (but exclude the first year of the Reagan Presidency). Obviously President Bush has done a lot of illegal and immoral things; and the Democratic party in signing the IWR is at least partially complicit in that. On the other hand if you want to say that Congressional Democrats are active participants in the Oligarchy, I don't agree with that either.

Finally, Reid and Pelosi are Democrats. Supporting Democrats shouldn't be all that controversial at a website called "Democratic Underground."

20. the OP was about AG qualifications

I support any Dem as an improvement over any repuke, but the Democratic Party is clearly now in service of the capitlaist oligarchy and the distinctions between Democrat and repuke are becoming vanishingly thin.

I'm not a fan of Reid. Pelosi is okay. Neither has been effective so far as an opposition leader.

All the major political issues of the last quarter century (plus a few years) are artifacts of the class war the oligarchy is waging against the rest of the world.

The Democrats failed America by not pursuing Iran Contra, BCCI, the Savings and Loan debacle, 9-11, the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, or any other among the escalating repuke crimes of the last quarter century (plus a few years). Now they are, IMHO, using the current bush cabal's crimes as political issues leading up to the 2008 election cycle. Again, justice will not be done, the status quo will be preserved (radically corrupt repuke "governments," occasionally interrupted by a few years of less corrupt Democratic "governments." Meanwhile, the class war proceeds according to the oligarchy's timetable, unimpeded by the US "government."

11. Hence my question
Many people feel their legal representative has acted in an illegal manner. Some folks feel that the current pace of Congressional investigation is too slow.
As an aside from what is happening in Congress: Can the people make a complaint with the organization where the Attorney General holds his license? If the people lodge complaints and an investigation ensues, could the Attorney General retain his position, if his license is revoked as a result?

24. I believe the AG must be legally credentialed to argue before the SCOTUS
I think they also are given some leeway to remedy the situation if for some reason they are not so credentialed.

Given the vast reach of the Republican Organized Crime operation, Gonzo would be re-credentialed somewhere within hours

2. presidents usually want somebody they can trust in that post regardless of experience
thus we have had John Mitchell, Nixon's good friend and Robert Kennedy whose main qualification in '60 was that he was JFK's brother.

9. Surely-
One requirement is the person must be able to professionally practice law...No?
To practice before the Supreme Court requires 3 years experience practicing law; And, to get those 3 years, one must have passed the bar.
I would think these would be the minimum requirements for recommendation.

....so he should have no problems finding a job in the fast food or hotel cleaning industry when he retires. Of course, a job in prison would open a plethora of new possibilities....license plate stamping, shiv making, or domestic goddess!

Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise....
