Obama hits golf course with Biden on another hot, humid weekend
Source: The Hill

President Barack Obama hit the golf course Saturday with Vice President Joe Biden.

The White House pool report noted that Obama left at about 1 p.m. for the course at Andrews Air Force base, and his golfing parters included White House Trip Director Marvin Nicholson and photographer David Katz.

Nicholson and Katz, along with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, joined Obama for four hours of golf last weekend. The Republican National Committee released an ad soon afterward taking aim at Obama's golfing during the ongoing BP oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.

And guess what? I admit that I peeked in Free Republic thread linking to a CNN producer's Twitter post. Then I used Google News to get to this Hill post. So far Tony Hayward's yacht outing is generating lots of discussion but not the presidential weekend escapade.

He's been golfing all along.

And, they collapse and downturn was a lot longer than 60 days

And he is the president - he asked for this job. Maybe he could have spent 90 minutes grilling BP execs and did only 9 holes instead.

Collapse and downturn of what? Bush's recession? Obama can't prevent that retroactively. It's time for private companies to start investing again and the Obama administration has done just about everything possible, given the lame congress we've got, to spur on development.

48. I crushed my numbers in Q1
And am way ahead for the year, if I were way behind after 60 days, I would be working on that instead of being here.

Btw, have you ever heard of terms and conditions ? Someone agreeing to invest money is worthless. Where are the terms, where are the penalties defined, who signed anything to make this enforceable ? And do you believe all that it will take to resolve this tragedy is $20B ? If all BP is on the hook for now is $20B, I'd say we got screwed in this deal.

When you don't know who the Patsy is in the room, it's you !

22. You don't see a difference between the guy in charge of the company directly RESPONSIBLE
for this disaster and the president who, although has responsibilities here, did not CAUSE the disaster?

23. Honestly I don't
I hope you read this response in the spirit I deliver it. BP, as a corporation shouldn't (and apparently doesn't) have any interest in our national treasures. Thats the way of the world in 2010, at some point I hope mankind evolves beyond capatilism. That isn't going to happen today.

What we have today is a representative government. Of which 1/3rd has the power to act swiftly, so to handle catastrophes such as the gulf spill.

I've made my decision as to if Obama has handled this disaster in a way that I find acceptable. Reasonable people may disagree with me.

I'll leave you with this.

We, as a country own the natural wonder that is the gulf coast. That property, that we own is being decimated, not only for our time, but generations. Who, if not the leader of our country should step up and protect us from this absolute tragedy?

33. There is still a difference between the man heading the company
that was responsible for the disaster, and the man heading the government that has to clean it up. I never disagreed with this: "Who, if not the leader of our country should step up and protect us from this absolute tragedy?" so I think you missed my point, which was a very simple one. A man commits a crime. The legal system (cops, judge, jury, attorneys) are all responsible in one way or another for what happens next. If the cops screw up, or the judge or jury screw up, that does not make them equivalent to the man who committed the crime in the first place.

28. Obama said himself that he was in charge / responsible
The only difference I see is Hayward wanted his life back, Obama never gave his up (ball game Friday, golf Saturday, and only 20 minutes for the BP meeting). I am not defining Obama's priorities, Obama does a pretty good job of that himself..

And I said there is a difference between the man in charge of the company that caused the disaster and the man in charge of the government that now must respond to it.

40. Sorry, but there iss no difference between the two here
This is not a cop taking a day off vs a criminal facing prosecution. These are two men who are and have claimed to be in charge. They both need to be on the job getting this fixed. A dozen rounds of golf since the disaster began is the definition of a manager as opposed to a leader. Obama is managing this, not leading the response.

I expect him to lead the country. If you are ok with Obama the manager, then you are all set, I guess.

a little r/r every once in awhile. I'd like the guy to be able to keep his sanity. I don't think Tony Hayward (as much of an ass as I think he is) should have to live on the beach either. People have a lot of anger over a whole lot of crap going on right now in the world, and it's understandable and shared. But I think people are focusing on trivial things with their anger. I heard that Tony Hayward took a 30 minute shower yesterday and BHO took a 27 minute shit!! The abomination of it all!! The HORROR!!!!

37. no comparison AT ALL!!
Hayward was responsible, along with his republican cohorts like Dick Cheney at Halliburton as well as George Bush, is the one ONE HUNDRED PERCENT RESPONSIBLE for this act of ecological terrorism against the planet!!! Obama is the one who has to deal with HAYWARD'S crime against humanity, NOT the other way around!!

So, yes, Obama gets to play golf, as he has to deal with defending the US and the world from illegal and criminal republicanist terrorist acts like the oil spill, but the ONLY place I EVER want to see Hayward spend the rest of his ill-begotten life is in a dank prison cell with Bubba periodically giving him an enema. THAT is the ONLY justice available!!
