It (to me) reveals Congressmen who aren't paying very close attention to the details of these issues that they say are so important. It seems very obvious that they are scripted to allow Gonzo to put forth his PR lines. The Bushco scriptwriters need to research more.

wouldn't it make sense for the committee to question and investigate every body around this issue BEFORE bringing this liar in? It seems to me that if they secure sworn testimony from everybody else involved and reconcile any untruths and omissions before hand, it wouldn't matter whether or not gonzo can recall what did or did not happen. He could be held accountable for his actions instead of practicing amnesia.

...the Republican strategy is clear. We were asleep, convinced that they no longer supported AGAG. But now we see them circling the wagons, asking about anything but the attorney general firings, and then using their time to repeat defensive talking points that seem to justify the whole thing.

Our side has scored very few pointed questions so far -- and AGAG has been pretty successful at deflecting them. He has perfected the art of the mealy-mouthed politico: use lots of words to say nothing, give no specifics, and claim ignorance (did anyone catch the Repub who prefaced his remarks by telling us how important it is to distinguish between criminal intent versus incompetence -- what a defense!).

So while they're circling the wagons, we're running around all uncoordinated and not making any knockout blows. Didn't TPM have a couple of questions that could be asked, that would be harder to wiggle out of?

Of course Gonzales still comes off as the weasely liar that he is. It's just, catching him in it that seems to be so elusive.
