Right-winger guy I met just touted "one benefit of the Holocaust"
This guy is a fundie Christian who said prayer works better than medicine to cure disease.

I asked if God intervenes to cure then why wouldn't he intervene to stop the Holocaust, which is process theology basically.

His response was stunning...He said "Take the Shoah (Holocaust) for example. All Jews are angered at this singular event, yet how many lives have ... See Morebeen saved by the well documented medical "procedures" performed by the Nazis? Medical science gains aside, a wise Rabbi once stated that everything that God does has a purpose, and everything that he doesn't do has an equal purpose."

Stupid stupid stupid.

3. The man's statement is no different
from those from the crowd at the crucifixion of Jesus-- if you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.
To take a fatalistic view of God is to deprive human beings of responsibility for what they do.
The only Christians I know who do this are the Reconstructionists, Dominionists and Fundamentalists.
The victim of the onslaught of fundamentalism is always humanism.

5. this is why I like eastern philosophy...their gods are only
Personalized to give people a greater understanding of the physical word where Christianity puts down the physical in favor of some unseen Heaven.

18. I also thought that science refused to use data collected in Nazi
experiments in protest of the way they got them. That was years ago. Do they use it now?

often a sad commentary on the progress of mankind. Hopefully they are more and more the minority.

11. Must be a John Hagee fan?
Hagee actually said (no, I'm not making this up) that God sent Hitler to go after the Jews, in order to fulfill the prophecy of Ezekiel 37, which talks about a "valley of dry bones" (i.e. mass graves) leading to the restoration of Israel, which in turn was necessary to begin the countdown to the Rapture/Tribulation/Return of JC/End of the World thing.

backward. In my book RW is synonymous with ignorance, and sadly many educated and intelligent people are often among the most ignorant walking the planet when RW.

17. I would ask him which are those procedures which saved lives? Many of...
the experiments were to find the most efficient methods of killing. Others were to find the extremes at which death occurred. Yet others seemed to be simply for the amusement of the torturers.

There has always been someone arguing for using the vast amount of data collected during those years, but most researchers agree that it is "fruit of the poisoned tree" and should be avoided. Many, if not all, legitmate researchers who have looked at it consider it bad science with hardly anything useful.

At the very least, it would all be obsolete by now.
