Just to go on record, I'll say if McCrystal, as expected, decides to spend more time with Andy Card's family, Rodriguez is the most likely choice to assume the command.

3-star Rodriguez oversees day-to-day operations as the Deputy Commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, a position he's held for three months. But he's been Commander of the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command (IJC) since October 2009.

He's a Pentagon insider, was Gates' personal military assistant for a year or so. He got that gig because of a wildly (in the SecDef's eyes) successful tour in command of the 82nd Airborne

Here's his ISAF bio: http://www.isaf.nato.int/en/about-isaf/leadership/lieutenant-general-david-m.-rodriguez.html

1. Makes sense.
With him at the ready, there is literally no reason for Obama to stick with McChrystal.

4. Speaking of which ...
If you know anything about the relationship between Lincoln and McClellan, you may find this humorous ...

5. What is Petraeus's position over there?
I'm confused about what he is doing.
