2. K&R (I wonder if this is getting any national attention)
Edited on Tue Jun-22-10 11:34 PM by demmiblue
I thought I heard on Thom's show that the organizers expected 20,000+ participants.

Seeing as a couple thousand teabaggers (if that) garner nation-wide exposure on all the major networks, it will be interesting to see if there is anything more than a sound bite regarding this event.

4. Very true.....Amy Goodman is broadcasting from Detroit all week.
But I bet it scarcely gets a mention on the corporate crappy media.

7. And that's why we have to find a way to support people like Amy.
She's always right on the most important stuff.

6. It's hardly getting local attention
I passed by the local ABC affiliate that showed up after the march and I asked them; "Hey shouldn't you guys be covering a tea bag rally?". The local reporter talked to me and sheepishly said "Hey, at least we we're here". I thanked her but told her that watching local news these days is like watching GOP TV, I'm pretty sure she agreed, but just put her head down.

11. Yea... one of the organizers commented on the lack of media.
Lucky you, though. I bet it was very exciting and energizing to be part of the parade.

I may try to make it over there sometime this week.

12. It was great
Most inspiring was the youth, and how many people traveled so far for this event. Great, great march, just ashame the public wasn't informed.

I mean there were nearly 15,000 people in the street on a weekday, and that doesn't garner any coverage? Give me a break. Anyway to anyone who wants to give the local news anchor here some hell, here's his Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/DevinScillian

Just reply to him and ask him how this event doesn't get covered?

I don't care if he doesn't pick the stories, Ted Baxter deserves some grief on this one.

16. Where in the Detroit area did you march?
It's because of the youth today that makes me smile. I heard people came from all over the country. Wish I could've been there.
:hi:
BTW, I'm originally from Ferndale.

17. started at Woodward & Warren
and marched down Woodward to Grand Circus Park over to Washington Blvd. and back down to Cobo.

And yes I've never seen so many people from so many parts of the country, it was a beautiful thing!
