5. Of course he is, some in the administration like McChyrstal's strategy in Afghanistan

and think he is the only one to carry it out. Others think the strategy is not working and think McChrystal is expendable. Plus, is it less weak to have the guy crawl across glass to beg for his job or fire him outright (or demand his resignation)? Not everyone on DU even agrees.

He should surround himself with people who have a variety of ideas and are able to look at issues from multiple viewpoints. In a complex situation they will likely have different and even conflicting advice. It's Obama's (or any president) job to listen to all of his advisors and make the difficult decisions based on as much advice as possible, not based only on advice from people who agree with him.
