New BP spill chief criticizes 'rush to justice'
Source: Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS — The man who inherited the Gulf oil spill response from BP's embattled CEO said Wednesday that Americans have been too quick to blame his company for the environmental disaster now in its third month.

"I'm somewhat concerned there is a bit of a rush to justice going on around the investigation and facts," BP PLC managing director Bob Dudley said after touring a New Orleans wildlife conservation center where sea turtles sickened by the spill are being treated.

... More work must be done, he said, before blame is assigned for the April 20 explosion of the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, which set off the worst oil spill in U.S. history. BP was leasing the rig from owner Transocean Ltd.

"So I think there is yet a lot to be done in terms of assessing responsibility," he said. "I think BP is one of those responsible parties, but time will tell."

6. Jungian slip, more like it: since everyone beside him is thinking "justice," it's the collective
unconscious being accidentally expressed...

4. Yes, let's not be hasty
What if it turns out that space alien Martian crocodiles actually sabotaged the Deepwater Horizon in a nefarious scheme to, uh, do something nefarious? Wouldn't you all feel just horrible about all the calumny heaped on poor, beleaguered BP? Help me out here, I'm losing momentum.

7. That is the funniest post I've ever read on DU.
And it is the first time anything remotely connected to this disaster has made me laugh. Thank you.

FU*K YOU A**HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!

FU*K YOU, YOU SH*TSTAIN ON THE FACE OF HUMANITY

FU*K YOU AND THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON.

Have you seen the 60 minutes vid on the Deepwater Horizon? BP is guilty as hell!!!

If there was any real justice anymore in this half a**ed country they would just take all these BP executives to the guillotine.

Better yet make them swim in the oil periodically, let them stumble around for about a day covered in oil in the hot sun and then trap them with nets and clean them with Corexit, it's not toxic, no not at all.

and between dunk-ings in the oil they can clean the oil off the beaches with shovels for the rest of their miserable lives.

9. hey, dudley do wrong, we KNOW bp is guilty. JUSTICE would be each and every member of bp management
all the way down to district mgr, in all countries-- in their shorts and sandals, NO hazmat gear, no respirators (after all, it is perfectly safe) out there with shovels, skimmers, etc, until every last drop of oil is cleaned up, every body of marine and wildlife accounted for, every dime paid to those this calamity has impacted--WITH your damned personal fortunes, as well as every freaking dime of bp's assets. and THEN you would all do the honourable thing--seppuku. oh wait, that actually requires a concept of honour, doesn't it?

oh, and since you were partners with exxon and the valdez mess, you would insist that exxon pay, and you would, as well.
