Gore Was Accused of Sexual Advances
A massage therapist accused former Vice President Al Gore of “unwanted sexual contact” at a hotel in October 2006, but no charges were filed because of lack of evidence, law officials said Wednesday.

A lawyer for the woman contacted the police in late 2006, said the Multnomah County district attorney, Michael D. Schrunk. Mr. Schrunk said the woman, who has not been identified, had refused to be interviewed and did not want the investigation to proceed.

But in January 2009, she contacted the police and gave a statement in which she said Mr. Gore had tried to have sex with her during an appointment at the Hotel Lucia. The National Enquirer first reported the accusations on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for Mr. Gore, Kalee Kreider, said he had no comment. Mr. Gore and his wife announced on June 1 that they were separating.

1. Salon: 3 reasons to doubt the Al Gore sex assault story
1) The Portland police declined to investigate the woman's claims any further after she made her statement, citing a lack of evidence.
2) The allegations were apparently known two years ago to at least one Portland media outlet -- the Portland Tribune, a weekly paper that declined to report on them. The paper's editor tells Ben Smith that the allegations didn't meet the "test points" that the paper uses to determine whether a story is likely to be true.
3) We have seen plenty of cases of baseless (if vivid) sexual allegations against celebrities before. Tucker Carlson was once accused of rape by a woman he'd never met, for instance. Something similar happened with magician David Copperfield last year, too. (Plenty of celebrities have been guilty of sex crimes, too, of course.)

5. Mom always said, nothing good ever happens in a bar at 3 in the morning
The same might be true of hiring someone to come to your hotel room to give you a massage, I'm not sure.

14. Have no way of knowing if the allegations are true. However,
anyone willing to ante up $540 for a "massage" in a hotel room at 11PM under an assumed name is probably looking for something more. Either this woman is a troublemaking liar or Al Gore is a risk-taking fool.

4. I was accused of attacking A CHILD and a couple of other people
back in 1997, by a psycho nutball cat rescue person with an agenda I made the mistake of interfering with, lol. No charges were filed because of lack of evidence. And it's appropriate, because everything she claimed was pure fabrication (except the part where I verbally harangued her up one side and down the other for practicing veterinary medicine without a license, which she was).

Anybody can claim anything. Doesn't mean a damned thing.

organizations backing her who backed Paula, gave her a nose job, and other bribe deals and money. Has any body investigated this?

Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 06:07 AM by Major Hogwash
Al Gore would never make advances on any woman other than his wife.
What's even worse is that "this woman" contacted the police 3 whole years after the supposed incident.

Yeah, right.
Everybody waits 3 whole years before reporting unwanted advances.
Especially a massage therapist!!

Where did they get this shit? From watching old Seinfeld reruns?

21. And this contradiction as to her motivation.

The Multnomah County district attorney's office was aware that the woman's attorney filed a complaint with police about two months after the encounter, but the woman didn't show up for three scheduled interviews with police investigators. At that time, police were told the woman didn't want to proceed with a criminal case and would pursue a civil case instead.

(snip)

She told detectives last year that she was not out for money but only wants "justice."

charges.

That makes no sense.

Rumor has it that a private citizen asked a $540 massage therapist for sex. Does that pretty well summarize the situation?

I. Don't. Care.

How could they see a $500 massage bill of Gore's if he gave a fake name like the article says?
