Anyone still not convinced the far right whackos are racists?
The NAACP Convention is being held here in KC next week. And the local discussion boards are hopping. Check out this comment one of the worst wingnuts just posted in a discussion about Michelle Obama being the keynote speaker at the convention.

First the title of his post:

Obama snubs the colored folks....

Then his opinion on the upcoming election:

The turnout will go back to "normal" levels, without a colored guy running for Prez.

On another blog I read today a reporter had commented that Michelle Obama was the first descendant of slaves to live in the White House. A wingnut left a comment claiming that the reporter was wrong because George Washington had ancestors who were slaves in biblical times.

I guess he forgot that George never lived in the White House.

I swear to God, these people make me want to puke. And they are my fucking neighbors. GRRRRR.

1. there are a lot racists
and not just rwingers, unfortunately.

"Hidden racism" imo, is more devastating than those who are up front about it. I'd rather know who I'm fighting against.

Those who "pretend" to be non-racist, but in reality ARE, are some of the biggest impediments to equal rights in this country.

there are many programs that foment and perpetuate racial discrimination in this county.

Institutionalized entrenched racism is one of the most difficult to overcome.

2. I'll go one better and say most of them are extreme Reich wing crazies
because they are racist.

Big chunks of them are economic conservatives because they think someone that looks different is going to get their money. A bunch of them are social conservatives out of fear mostly and want to maintain a rigid society with limited mobility to "keep the darkies down" apparently even if it holds them back too because they would at least have those shoulders to stand on.

By no means all but a fair chunk to be sure.

3. My Dad confronted a racist & short circuited his brain
My Dad had a gas station a long time ago. A regular customer, a deputy sheriff came into fill up his car. He always bragged to my Dad about his gun. Finally, my Dad said "What are you going to do with that big gun?" The deputy answered, "If any N.....r rapes my daughter, I'll kill him!". My Dad was always had a very quick wit and asked the deputy, "Do you mean it's okay for a white man to rape your daughter?". The deputy's mind short circuited and looked totally dumbfounded. He left with his lower jaw hanging down to his knees unable to speak. He never returned but my Dad felt good about melting the small brain of a racist.

4. My dad had a co-worker who was African American come over one afternoon
when I was a kid. Mid 1960s. A couple days later, the bigot who lived next door asked my dad "Who was that colored man I saw at your house the other day?"

And my dad said "I was just getting ready to come talk to you. We sold our house to him."

I miss my dad. He always knew just what to say to shut up an ignorant fool.
