Open Reply to Sen Leahy re Deficit and Repug National Debt
Sat, Jun 26, 2010 4:15 pm

Let me suggest you take a page out of
Frank Luntz's very successful playbook
for the Republicans, simplifying our message
to point the majority of Americans will under-
stand. Lets start with the word 'Deficit' which
the Republicans are distorting, and using it for
a winning talking point.

Deficit is a yearly thing. The National Debt is
forever, until paid off.

Ronald Reagan tripled our National Debt.
We think he wanted to cut expenses for
Social Security and Medicare, and that he
did all this with his tax cuts and Deficit
Spending, with Republican Support.

Pres Clinton changed the Deficit to a Surplus
so we could pay off our National Debt.

Geo W & the Republicans doubled our National
Debt again partly by having the very wealthy pay
a lot less taxes, and partly with his war in Iraq financed
by the Deficit.

If we cannot continue to temporarily incrase our deficit,
for job creation and funding states' costs for employees,
we are in danger of creating another Great Depression,
if not a double dip Great Recession.

And this week end the Republicans say that instead
of taxing Banks, we should focus on job creation.

HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT WITHOUT
INCREASING THE DEFICIT THEY NOW COMPLAIN
ABOUT?
