I've given this a lot of thought, but everything I come up with runs smack into the law of unintended consequences.

Nonetheless, suppose some magic sky wizard, or genii, granted you those three wishes. I'd really like to hear what you'd wish for.

7. The immediate disappearance of all Americans who revere Reagan.
Once that's done, I'll feel calm enough to figure out my other two wishes.

15. Are you sure we have free will?
Doesn't free will suggest we are outside of cause and effect?

If all events have a cause, then every decision we make has a cause, and every cause for every decision we make has a cause, and so on.

Edited on Sun Jun-27-10 12:57 PM by Cal Carpenter
2) the rising up of the working class globally to seize the means of production and government

3) ? I can tell you what I envision as an ideal next phase but it's up to the people, not my whims.

8. Hmmm...
Today? Right now?

I'd:

1. Wave my magic wand and make every human on earth physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. Not only that, but they'd stay healthy until their allotted time on earth was done, unless:

2. I'd wave the wand again and institute instant karma: the only disease or deformation of any kind would occur in those people who indulged in fear, hate, greed, or any other philosophy or action that caused harm to others or to the planet. The more serious the infraction, the faster and more devastating the karma.

3. I'd wave the wand one last time to ensure that, until the human population was reduced to half a billion people, conception would occur in only 1 out of every 1,000,000 people each year.

I'd end up with a health planet and an economy based, not on growth or profit, but on ensuring the quality of life and abundant resources for all.

9. I'd turn all republicans into their exact polar opposite politically
so the far right becomes the far left etc.

I'd remove all nuclear weapons from the planet, no fusion or fission weapons would ever work or be able to detonate. Power plants would be unaffected.

The final wish I'd hold onto for something else, probably having to do with some sweeping 'repair' or 'fix' for the earth's environment but nothing too drastic.

10. Wish 1: End all magical thinking...
Wish 2: Would not happen because wish 1 takes care of that problem.

Action 1: Start a neighborhood peace drive that fixes wasteful energy uses in each neighborhood, puts solar cells on all roofs, changes all yards to a natural yard using sustainable, low water, plants.

12. First and foremost
I would wish that religion does not cause the world to continue to fight. I think religion is the main cause of most conflicts to day.

Then I would wish that peoples attitudes about each other would be more compassionate. I don't like the way people like tea bags and radical republcians use the fact that just because a person is different they should be shunned and picked on.

If those two were fulfilled I would wish that the hungry of the world would be fed.

2. Humans would gain the ability to instantly turn into self aware, self directing light, and back again. This would mostly be for travel and self defense.

3. Humans would no longer need food, air, or certain temperatures to survive. This would aid in light form space travel.

24. Having the stupidest people rendered sterile
with enough stupid people made sterile to keep the world population at 1 billion or less.

Undo all the pollution in the world. All the PCBs, all the persistent organic pollutants, the mercury, and the everything else. Just poof and it is gone.

Then I'd hold onto the last one.

That wish would be to immediately eliminate the ability for humans to reproduce. This planet and all the creatures on it deserve better than being infested with "intelligent" life forms.

34. some small acheivable ones
Edited on Sun Jun-27-10 03:27 PM by Bert
For the world:
1. Some kind of respectable resolution to the israel/palestinian conflict as it essentially fuels everything else in the middle ease
2. An end to the drug war, at least against marijuana both in the usa and the world at large
3. Higher reliance on alternative energy, maybe even fusion
(oh well, may as well go for nine)
4. Cut our millitary budget by at least half with the savings going to job programs and renewable infrastructure(like maybe trains)
5. Cutting our prison industrial complex in the US, as well as the drug industrial complex, thogh both of these as well as cuts in the millitary in south america would be partially accomplished through number 2.
6. Start taxing churches in this country and stop letting them influence both foreign and domestic policy in any way.
7. Have publicly financed elections in this country that dont take years to run, and I guess this would also mean stripping personhood away from corporations, this would also involve dramatic changes to the supreme court.
8. Give Washington DC full voting priviledges, possibly make Puerto Rico a state and have voting reforms in all states, also let ex felons vote which seems to make sense if you want to re-integrate them into society.
9. Get some, any kind of gun control laws in this country starting with no gun shows and no assault weapons.
10. Roll back anything done under Reagan and make rich people pay their share in this country, stop outsourcing everything and return some kind of manufacturing and union base to this country.
