Ohio 6-Year-Old Turns Up on Terror Watch List
Source: AOL News

(June 26) – The father of a 6-year-old Ohio girl who turned up on the U.S. government's terror watch list says the worst thing his daughter has ever done is probably been mean to her sister.

But Santhosh Thomas, a doctor from Westlake, Ohio, says he's sure that's not enough to land his 6-year-old Alyssa on the no-fly list of suspected terrorists. "She may have threatened her sister, but I don't think that constitutes Homeland Security triggers," he told CNN.

An airline ticket agent informed the family of their predicament when they embarked on recent trip from Cleveland to Minneapolis. "They said, 'Well, she's on the list.' We're like, okay, what's the story? What do we have to do to get off the list? This isn't exactly the list we want to be on," Thomas said.

The Thomases were allowed to fly that day, but authorities told them to contact the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to clear up the matter. Now they've received a letter from the government addressed to 6-year-old Alyssa, telling her that nothing in her file will be changed.

Damn right her file won't be changed! You ever been poked in the eye by the arched foot of a Barbie doll??? Thank God that the DHS is protecting us from this terrorista!

1. "The watch lists are an important layer of security

to prevent individuals with known or suspected ties to terrorism from flying," an unnamed spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration told Fox News.

Which does NOT explain why you're watching a six-year-old, and why they won't stop. They won't even identify your spokesman. And we're supposed to feel safe?

2. I feel so much more secure knowing she's been on the list since 2 months old. Is this
a crazy place or what.

3. I was wondering when they would get around to the people of OHIO!

Finally Ohio has been identified for the haven of evil it is. Next we'll expose the insurgent camps in Minnesota. WE NEED TO INVADE.

4. Do we have the right to confront our accusors in court?
Is being on a list such as this essentially a criminal matter without a corresponding prosecution? Who is the accuser? The DHS is the apparent owner of the list, but how did such a point of data come to be on the list? Did an employee press a key, and was it intentional or a keystroke mistake? Or was the list automatically generated by computer, and if so, who takes responsibility? Officials may have let these folks fly, but not without a unpleasant delay, and it could have been quite stressful, perhaps even evocative, depending upon these folks prior experiences with authoritarians.

Some of us go out of our way to avoid interactions with police and security and authoritarians, and as our society is increasingly policed, our realms of avoidance shrink further and farther.

5. The 6 y/o is not on the terror watch list but her name is. The FBI does
not put the label terrorist on children. The TSA over stepped their authority. Probably because the Thomas family is dark skinned and of middle eastern heritage. The father is named Sanjo Thomas. TSA was probably looking for a reason to hassle this family and used the child's name as an excuse. There are no children on the Terror Watch List or the so-called no fly list.

16. Exactly what authority did they overstep?
As far as I can tell, the TSA has no bounds on their authority, and can do pretty much anything they want, as long as they keep it pretty much out of the public eye. No private citizen has any recourse against any TSA/Homeland Security agency action.

7. This country has become a fucking joke. You would think that any...........
.....fucking moron in charge at the time would have "fixed" the obvious fuck-up, but no. With our education "system" swirling slowly down the bowl, we ain't gonna get any smarter fuckers in charge of these bureaucracies it seems. We are totally fucked.

9. The DNS and TSA are Un-American
Why not? Weren't we, on the left, called out as Un-American for resisting to buy Chinese yellow ribbon magnets for our cars?
For not supporting the moron in a flight suit? Not patriots, that's what the right says. Even their Sirius/XM channel is called Siruis/XM Patriot Radio. Ours is "America Left".
So here we have government agencies bent on ignoring or curtailing our rights against illegal search and seizure and our inherent right of freedom of movement - or is that now a "privilege"?
They routinely place individuals like this 6 year old and literally thousands of others on restricted lists for absolutely no other reason than their own (DHS & TSA) incompetence. TSA employees scream at us in lines, as we stand shoes in hand on an unsanitary, filthy floor, as we are basically electronically strip-searched, sheepishly grovelling to them in order to to be allowed to travel in a painfully uncomfortable seat on a airliner than may or may not take off on time. Protest, even mildly, and you will wait longer.
I'm way past the point in believing that this country has any basic trappings of it's potential and/or past left. But I can't think of any worse example of the death of the American spirit of liberty and freedom than the presence of a DHS and TSA in our daily lives.
The Bush government's own failure to detect and prevent a bunch of lunatics from hijacking planes has essentially killed the Bald Eagle of the American spirit. And that my friends is their most grievous legacy.

11. This proves again that the terror list is a farce.
DHS might as well tell him if want to go anywhere in the US for the rest of his life he should the ride the bus or a train. Then again if the DHS give them the real reason they would be sued.

Nothing but Homeland Insecurity Theater folks. (See CYAATT College)

12. Department of Homeland Security
I dread our future, if these guys are in charge of defending us, what's going to happen when Mars Attacks? Now that i think of it, why do we even have a dpt of homeland security? If we need Homeland Security, then the Dpt of Defense should be re-named the Dpt of Imperial Troopers.

15. Mistakes occur but this sounds fishy
Are they actually watching the parents and don't want them to know or what? Also, maybe it isn't that big a deal now at age six, but what if it isn't sorted out by the time she's an adult, then what? This little girl should not have to go her whole life with something like this hanging over her head.

17. So, this is what we've been reduced to.
The country that helped wipe up the floor with the three Axis powers in WWII and stared down the Soviet Union with it's 15,000 nuclear warheads. Now, we're so terrified of boxcutters and exploding underwear, that we put a first grader on a terrorist watch list. A bunch of stateless yokels have made our country lose it's collective bladder control with their threats of tepid Armageddon and we're just dancing to their tune. Or actually, we're dancing to the propaganda that FOX news and their ilk are spreading about A GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR. Please. I just want to wear a paper bag over my head and pretend to be Canadian when I go overseas.
