happens to find themselves in, and produce sugary films accordingly. Any good student of Marxist thought would spot the capitalist/commercial dodge a mile away.
Consider: in the 1930's, when racist attitudes were widespread and entrenched enough to actually be commercially viable in an artistic venue, Disney cranked out some cartoons that would spark a hate-speech investigation in Congress in 2010.
If the zeitgeist changes appreciably enough - and it will; human history shows it always does - Disney will be cranking out/catering to whatever the cultural itch of that era is, even if it's blatantly offensive to our current sensibilities. And raking in the capitalist dollars while they do it.
Your OP disappoints me, rug: my baptism under fire at DU came in sparring with you over Marxist dogma, of which I know quite a bit about but do not subscribe to all that passionately, with you a foil with the roles almost exactly reversed, in every sense of the word.
What would Karl's analysis of Disney Corp.'s role in 2010 capitalist America be, do you figure? I think I know - and he wouldn't have much use for "Pocahontas."
