Vitter leading in Senate Race . . .
Edited on Tue Jun-29-10 10:33 AM by defendandprotect
How can this be . . . ???

Poll: Vitter holds lead in Senate race
By Shane D'Aprile - 06/29/10 11:06 AM ET

A new Rasmussen poll out Tuesday shows Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) holding onto a double digit lead in his race for re-election against Rep. Charlie Melancon (D).

Vitter leads 53 percent to 35 percent with 9 percent of respondents undecided. The automated survey polled 500 likely voters and has a margin of error of +/- 4.5 percentage points.

The poll was conducted after news of the arrest of one of Vitter's legislative aides. Brent Furer plead guilty to assaulting his former girlfriend in 2008. After news outlets reported his arrest last week, Furer was fired but questions lingered over Vitter's knowledge of the events.

Another lingering issue in the race is the oil spill with Vitter charging Melancon with backing the Obama administration's six month deep-water drilling moratorium, which Melancon has repeatedly denied.

A Rassmussen poll released Monday found overwhelming support for offshore drilling among Louisiana voters--79 percent

on this race and hope that this one is very, very wrong!!

OK . . .

so far have only found this . . .

As of April 2010, Republican Vitter leads Democrat Melancon by more than 10% of the projected vote. Final filing deadline for candidates is July 9, 2010, with the primary election set for August 28, 2010.

Somewhat better . . . but still a 10% lead!

Who would be voting for this idiot?

Anyone know anything about the Dem candidate?

6. Easy.
The only kind of Democrat acceptable to any district other than Cao's district is a DINO. Melancon would make a better senator than Vitter has, but he isn't that far removed politically from Vitter. So you either keep Vitter, who has done a decent job representing Louisiana's right-wing political ideology, or you replace him with Melancon, who has shown a tendency to vote with his party rather than his constituency at times, which also reduces Republican numbers in the Senate and reduces the chances of a filibuster.

It's a no-win situation, but it's hardly baffling.

7. Melancon was the first Federal official seen in some storm-ravaged areas after Katrina
not the first elected official, the first of any kind, ahead of FEMA :puke: , National Guard, etc.

Vitter, by contrast, was the first Federal official seen in diapers. :eyes:

11. So Melancon should be a propular Dem candidate . . .???
Looks like Bush washed most of the Democrats out to sea or off to other states?

Haven't seen any recent reports on the status of those people --

how quickly we forget!

8. So they're not using the diaper/hooker theme in any advertising?
Or do the voters simply not care anymore?

9. I'm not surprised
Louisiana is filled with enough idiots who don't care what the guy does as opposed to what he says. And Democrats don't have the killer instinct to bring up his diaper fetish at every turn.

10. Reason why? Depends. People of Louisiana should be reminded: Vitter's a PAMPERED candidate.

Beating the GOP doesn't take rocket science. C'mon, DEMS! Just tell the truth.

12. Of course he is.. It's the "devil you know" syndrome
He's got some seniority, and has weathered the dirty diaper storm. They will never vote a democrat in, and they probably do not want a "new" republican
