Worlds largest wind turbine that has bearings and things to go
astray while this Maglev version seemingly would require little if any maintenance.

Worlds largest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQxp6QTjgJg&feature=related

Maglev, two gigawatts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7Qs2gFlt-o&NR=1&feature=fvwp

6. Cool
Maybe they can test it in my neck of the woods. Our local university is in process of testing the Gamesa G10x:

7. Easy to claim "low maintenance" for something they haven't built yet
Much, much harder to believe them. If something is so technologically advanced that you aren't able to build it yet, then you really have no clue about the maintenance costs for it.

8. 13 have been built and operational
The first turbine of this model was installed in Emden, Germany in 2007.<3> A total of thirteen turbines of this model were erected as of December 2009, most of them in Germany. The biggest wind farm using this model of turbines is being constructed in Estinnes, Belgium

This is old news BTW so your reply is even more out of date.

9. No, that's the type with "bearings and things to go astray" that the OP is criticising
The OP is singing the praises of a theoretical vertical axis maglev turbine with frictionless bearings, that so far exists as a CGI animation in the 2nd link in the OP.

I'm convinced by the real turbines, like the Enercon ones. I'm very sceptical about 'low maintenance' cutting-edge technology devices that haven't been built yet.

10. OK... agree...
Didn't look at the second link and in theory it looks promising but
I doubt the Arizona company will have the resources to get one going any time soon.

Gotta go to work now.
