3. It's worse than you think
(From LBN)

My partner works on a rig not very far away from the Deepwater Horizon, and crew change is out of Grand Isle. Grand Isle was a wonderful place...great fishing, boating, the Tarpon Rodeo, etc. I hear that the beaches are completely destroyed. I'm sure property values have plummeted to zero. I was already told that, in the Gulf, there is oil as far as the eye can see. I'm sure that today, after crew change, because of the storm in the Gulf pushing oil onshore, I'll hear some more horrific news.

4. My Sister on the MS. Gulf Coast told me
she went to the beach and it was sickening. She tells me the oil smell is everywhere in her town and people are having headaches and feeling sick to their stomach.

Anyone own a time machine? I would much prefer perpetually living in the late 1970s until my death, I can do just fine being again without the internet, cable/satellite broadcast connections, PCs, surround sound, VHS video, microwave ovens, digital cameras, CDs, hi-def TV, DVDs and cellphones.

:wow: :scared: :grr:  :banghead:

We all managed to live without all the "goodies".. If I had to choose, I would vote "less goodies"...more nature

7. less is more
I totally agree... I live in a rural mtn town in the high sierras and thank my lucky stars evry day that my kids can ride bikes and spend time in the woods, rather than living in the concrete jungle...

i prefer more trees than people, personally

i weep for the gulf, and we have gone to the water on our beach up here and prayed for the clarity and healing of the gulf...but that's all we can do, is pray and wonder if anyone hears...

8. "BP didn't consider hurricanes in its Gulf oil spill response plan"
Rep. Edward Markey says BP's disaster response plan for an oil spill doesn't mention hurricanes or tropical storms.
Markey says the omission is yet another example of what the oil giant was not prepared to handle.
