7. I almost feel like a Graham apologist here, but I used the wrong word when
I said "tussle" in my OP. It was a good, fair discussion and he came across as reasonable and supportive!

I've only watched a couple of these -- Sotomayor and now Kagan's -- and I am VERY impressed by Kagan's demeanor.

2. Is Lindsey using his own abortion as a point of reference?
Or is he just blathering on cluelessly, as if his opinion doesn't have real world consequences that he'll never have to face?

4. Actually he's being fair and pretty objective. This is the first time
I've actually heard him speak at any length (usually just contentious anti-Dem sound bites) and as I said, he's being pretty objective. He was very complimentary and respectful to Kagan.

6. Then color me shocked
Lindsey must have some kind of agreement with the Tea Baggers that he won't be challenged come re-election time. This is one of those red-flag issues on which they brook no squishiness, and Lindsey would be inviting a primary challenge from the batshit-crazy right by going soft on questions about abortion.

9. Me, too. It's almost as though he left his angry Republican persona at the door
and is conducting a non-political job interview. Who'da thunk?

Now we've got Cornyn - we'll see how this goes. :7

3. "Settled Law" should be the response. Why in God's name is this
subject still being raised? It's over, they lost...IT IS LEGAL....

5. And that's how they both seemed to agree on it. He wasn't disputing the
law, but just essentially asking if she would try to kind of push the law to more closely align with here "agenda". She gave a great response (essentially, uh, I follow the law) and he was fine with that.

I probably shouldn't have used 'tussle' in my OP. He's been very objective and deferential and respectful.

11. I think you would have been surprised (as I was) by the exchange. Very positive.
I have to say again, I'm very impressed by Kagan.

Anyway, Obama is on CNN - and he's in good form!

10. Yes, he's apparently being respectful, but.....
He's trying to set a trap for her to say something which could be used against her.....

Cornyn is now doing the same thing ---- traps. So far, she's done well to stay out of them.

13. I didn't get that impression from Graham, and I turned back to watch Obama so
am missing Cornyn. I may be wrong, but then I always give everybody the benefit of the doubt -- even SOME Republicans on RARE occasions! Maybe I was just taken by surprise because he just seemed so REASONABLE and I don't recall ever attributing that to him before. :7

14. Thank the cloud beings that McCain/Palin lost!
As Republican as Obama's policies and practices are, he's not batshit loony.
