Pete Stark (D-CA) gets into it with a Minuteman at town meeting
Pete Stark (D-CA) got into it with a Minuteman at a recent town hall meeting:
"The minutemen want to have something to say," Stark says as one of the border security advocates begins to ask a question. "Who are you going to kill today?"

After brushing off the congressman’s remark, the activist said, "I want to know why the federal government is not doing anything more to seal the borders of this country?"

"Well, we can’t get enough minutemen armed," Stark answered. "We’d like to. Get all the minutemen armed so they can stop shooting people here." <...>

The man then interrupted Stark, telling the congressman, "this a very serious matter and you’re sitting there making fun of it."

"I don’t have to make fun of you sir," Stark responded, "you make a fine job all by yourself."

1. Based on the Remarks Quoted
I'd vote against Pete Stark if given the chance.

6. he's just giving BS back in return for it being offered to him in the first place
that's always been his MO.

if people come at him with nonsense, he doesn't blather around trying to sound reasonable in response --he simply gives them the level of response their input deserves.

i think if more congresspeople did this instead of "well, i see where you're coming from..." it would be more useful.

13. I'd have to disagree there because
there is no place for ANY Congressman or elected official to get off with smug arrogance towards their constituents regardless of their Party or belief. These people had legitimate questions and he came across with put downs instead of answers. There are some things that I've seen and read about Pete Stark that I like. This wasn't one of them. I happened to see this same smug arrogance from Rick Santorum at a town hall meeting about social security and I didn't like it there either.

8. Don't worry,
I sincerely doubt that any avowed atheists would have a snowball's chance in hell running for office in your neck of the woods.

11. (1) 30 degrees cooler on the coast.
(2) Bob Wasserman and his cabal, who think there's nothing wrong with Fremont that a (a) ANOTHER shopping mall, (b) water park boondoggle or (c) "Ballpark Village" in BFE with no public transit route, won't cure.

Among other things, but these two factors were at the top of the list.

14. Well, thats what makes the Bay Area unique. You can go 20 miles either way and
and get a huge variance in temp. I can put up with the politics -- all the city council are mostly dems. They are not perfect, but better than republicans

15. "Ballpark Village" boosters all
I'd had it with Fremont after the last mayoral election. Unfortunately Morrison got in the race too late to build up any significant traction. He was the only voice of sanity against Wasserman and Cho, another Ballpark Booster. Not impressed with any of the CC members, either, they just rubber-stamp whatever Wasserman and his business cronies want them to stamp. I supported Vinnie Bacon in his unsuccessful bid for CC, and I see he's running again this year, I hope he wins but I'm not counting on it.

Although the NUMMI closure did ultimately end up in something good (Tesla), Wasserman and his yes-persons could have cared less about the plant closure, they were so hot to trade those good-paying jobs for minimum-wage serf jobs at their nightmare "Ballpark Village".

Lest we forget, useless stadium boosting and ripping off the taxpayers made GW Bu$h his fortune.

Here's one of the associates of the Castro Valley Minuteman, who severely needs that reminder:
