NMSDC Conference Moved to Miami (from Arizona)
Edited on Wed Jul-07-10 09:52 PM by Renew Deal
Chicago Business Opportunity Fair (CBOF) Statement from NMSDC on conference relocation

The National Minority Supplier Development Council will hold its 2010 Conference and Business Opportunity Fair October 24-27 in Miami Beach, Florida. This conference was originally scheduled for the same dates in Phoenix, Arizona.

The decision to relocate the conference was made as a result of the concerns of NMSDC’s members and constituents about the impact of Arizona S.B. 1070. The bill is inconsistent with the ideals and principles upon which the NMSDC operates, including valuing diversity and inclusion for all.

Additional Conference information will be communicated via the NMSDC Web site at http://www.nmsdc.org.

I hear that this is a 6000 person conference. It's a huge loss for AZ.

2. Excellent- we can use the revenue here--
A conference that size in October here on Miami Beach is very welcome! This is great news. What's difficult is that while on one level it's a delicious and well deserved slap in the face to Arizona- but it also means it will trickle down to the folks who work in the hotels and shops and restaurants and depend on the tourism dollars for their jobs, will have less revenue duing their slow season.
