Obama draws about $500,000 for Carnahan in Missouri Senate race, praises her as independent

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — President Barack Obama says Robin Carnahan would help move his agenda forward while being an independent voice if elected to the U.S. Senate.

Obama appeared with Carnahan in Kansas City on Thursday at a pair of fundraisers for her Democratic Senate bid. The Carnahan campaign said the events raised at least $500,000.

Carnahan is the leading Democrat in the race to replace retiring Republican Sen. Kit Bond. The Republican front-runner in that race is Congressman Roy Blunt. Obama criticized Blunt as embracing the failed policies of the past.

6. Yes, she is playing coy with the Obama administration.
Obama did not take the state in the election, lost by an inch.

Lots of conservative folks around here that will be easily riled up by a clever and insidious campaign ad that will easily play on their deepest fears. Event the word "agenda", puts a bug up some folk's ass. I have a feeling I will be seeing that picture with the President with his arm around Carnahan again...if you know what I mean.

I believe Obama's comments here regarding Carnahan are strategic strokes of genius. He knows he cannot give the Blunt campaign rocks to throw. He has to be supportive but neutral. Still though, lots of haters 'round here.

So far, this election between Blunt and Carnahan has not heated up. It will be interesting to see if it does because the stakes are high.

I am having a hard time being hopeful. Its seems to be about jobs around here right now and ....you know the deal.
