Poll question: Do you boycott goods from one or more countries, and if so, is the US one of those countries?
For example, some people boycott goods from China because of the Chinese government's treatment of Tibetans.

I am not referring to one particular good, such as McDonald's hamburgers, but rather the general goods made by a country.

6. Not I, but...
perhaps a poster from another country which has higher inspection standards, perhaps, especially in meats. I can imagine that, easily.

7. I don't boycott goods from any country, but I can understand someone who
would boycott the US because of our wars and environmental history.

China has been murderous in Tibet, we have been murderous in the ME, Japan has been killing whales, we have been killing an ocean. If one is inclined to boycott a country, the US is as good a candidate as any other.

11. I do, depending on the product or the state it comes from (prefer supporting local)
and not supporting certain states. So I generally go with closer to home Aussie made or grown.

On the other hand, there are instances where Americans make a superior product- a good example being Warn winches made in Oregon.

These things are simple, well engineered and bomb proof- though they cost a bit more than Aussie made winches, have less warranty coverage and there's a new one out with better specs for my needs. I prefered knowing that if I'm stuck way out in the bush or in a river crossing that I've got recovery gear that I can rely on to get us out.

Bottom line: make a higher quality product- locate in an ethical state, and you'll get may business.

btw: they're also hiring: http://www.warn.com/corporate/employment/jobpostings.jsp

2. I look at food labels...
If I have a choice, especially with fresh produce, I choose USA over Mexico, particularly, and tend towards Texas produce in season.

3. I try to buy USA when possible, I would like to boycott
products from China but since it seems like 90% of all products come from there it is not hardly possible..

4. I avoid Chinese made goods. Most other countries I would boycott
Zimbabwe for example really don't produce anything.

5. If you shop at Walmart, you can't really boycott US goods.
That's because I don't think there are any US goods there.

Bada-Bing!

8. I'm weak.
I try my best to buy local, but in 100 degree heat (110 heat index), when my AC went out, I didn't give a shit where the box fans came from.

It sucks to not have American manufacturing bases any longer.

:(

9. China
I won't eat anything 'Made in China' and for other goods I prefer non-Chinese. Not directly because of Tibet, I just don't want to be poisoned.

10. There are goods from the US that I boycott.

I'm not a terribly sophisticated consumer - I tend towards Fairtrade when I remember, and I try to avoid Nestle (baby milk advertising); Israeli (occupation of Palestine) and organic (the hype annoys me). Nestle make stuff in the US, so I guess that sort of counts as boycotting US goods.

14. No boycotts for me, but I try to buy as close to home as possible:
county, California, US. Locally produced goods from locally owned stores are my preference, but if I really need something an overseas source is not a dealbreaker, and price/quality are always considerations...
