What is Christian Nationalism?
What is Christian nationalism?

I've just published a book called "Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism," and since it appeared, I've been asked several times what Christian nationalism is, and how it differs from Christian fundamentalism. It's an important concept to understand, because the threat to a pluralistic society does not come from those who simply believe in a very conservative interpretation of Christianity. It comes from those who adhere to a political ideology that posits a Christian right to rule.

Christian nationalists believe in a revisionist history, which holds that the founders were devout Christians who never intended to create a secular republic; separation of church and state, according to this history, is a fraud perpetrated by God-hating subversives. One of the foremost Christian revisionist historians is David Barton, who , in addition to running an organization called Wallbuilders that disseminates Christian nationalist books, tracts and videos, is also the vice-chairman of the Texas Republican Party. The goal of Christian nationalist politics is the restoration of the imagined Christian nation. As George Grant, former executive director of D. James Kennedy's influential Coral Ridge Ministries, wrote in his book "The Changing of the Guard:"

Realize this is what Beck is peddling at Beck U...

We also know this as Dominionism, and it is quite truly the real threat to whatever remains of American Democracy...

I figured I already went through my quota of silly posts... for the day, perhaps the week. And quite frankly Paul the Octopus is funny, Lebron James is interesting, but this matters.

4. Him and the 12 apostles, save probably the one to betray them
their god is mamom, but any fanatic who takes over power is scary. Don't care if this is oh the Taliban, or the American Taliban.

5. I guess that makes me a proud god-hating subversive...
By the way, I am reading a fiction book titled "Julian Comstock: A Story of 22nd-Century America"
by Robert Charles Wilson. In this novel, the U.S. collapsed due to the end of oil, which led to a nation dominated by Christian Dominionism. In this book, the 4th of July is a religious holiday, and being anything but Christian is a death sentence. A chilling look at a possible future.

The type of America these people pray for makes Oliver Cromwell's Britain look like a pluralistic society, and is the wet dream of the Taliban.

6. I don't know what Christian Nationalism is, but it ain't a Beck-Kennedy combo.
Any Evangelical worth their salt will tell you that Beck's going to straight hell for his LDS beliefs. An LDS stake with a crucifix is rarer than an Evangelical church without one.

12. Truly frightening book
which should be read by everyone who refuses to hand over our country to the fanatics. She packed it with info we need to know, and her style will make her a star. As another great writer once said, "Say what you will about the sweet miracle of unquestioning faith. I find the capacity for it terrifying." - Kurt Vonnegut

13. People should be aware of this
but sadly most are not.

It is like the big secret in the MSM... they rarely cover it. Though they have partly with Sharlet's book on The Family, which is part of the movement.
