The images need to be ingrained in the minds of those who are still not aware of the devastation that is occurring.

1. How will we ever recover from this?
Honestly, I cannot wrap my brain around the magnitude of this disaster. If we destroy the oceans we destroy ourselves.

8. Nature will
it's developed wonderful bacteria to eat this stuff. For them the oil is filet mignon.

I worry that the dispersant will make that process more difficult. The bacteria evolved to eat oil, not necessarily to eat soap.

But nature will. Whether it will be in 20 years or more is another question...

7. My guess...
...is that we have only experienced the tip of the oil-spill iceberg.

The oil is gushing from the floor of the ocean. Oil floats, and it will take
some time before the big masses of oil to float to the top. But they will.

And when they do, it's going to be so big and so ugly.

9. That would work if
it wasn't being dispersed at the source and hydrolyzed...

The heavy use of Corexit will only make things much worst. but on the bright side. from BP's POV... these pictures are not as bad as they could be.

10. Are they using Corexit...
...right at the source of the gusher?

So, if it's dispersed, does it stay dispersed? Or does it gravitate
back, and form a big blog of corexit and oil?

I don't get the reprecussions of using corexit, but I imagine that it would be more
difficult to trap and collect the oil if it's in little beads, as opposed to being
in big masses.

Thanks for any info...

11. I think if you watch this, you'll understand enough...
... to want to take every ounce of Corexit and pump it up BP's collective corporate BOD's arse.

12. Yes at the source
and what it does it that it keeps it under water.

If this floated to the top the 'zenes, such as benzene would evaporate. In five days or so you'd have a thick, sirupy mess that is far easier to clean. But it is far messier and the animals and plants... oy the photos...
