2. Two or three people are really spending a lot of their time...
ransacking the net for stories of 'bad' cops. Never from these folk have I seen any story regarding the good cops who protect all of us to the best of their abilities.

This poster currently has 4 anti-cop threads going on just this board.

The only reason that we can continue to live in cities is due to the officers who do their jobs correctly.

21. If that were true, abuse by cops wouldn't be such a huge problem.
The norm is a cop who treats citizens like criminals, who actively seeks to violate your constitutional rights, and who will hurt you badly just for stating calming your rights.

Is a cop a "good guy" if he doesn't rid the force of bad cops?

It's over 3.5% which is well above even the USA's incredibly high incarceration rate. And that's the cops that get caught. How many got away with it?

Strikes me that as a proportion of their own sub-population, cops well and truly outstrip the general populace when it comes to producing individuals who belong behind bars.

Strikes me that if it's not the other way around, there is something seriously fucking wrong with your cops even if 96+% are decent fellows. And just how decent can a lot of them be, when they know damned well what their colleagues are up to even if they themselves don't participate?

8. The entire concept of "Police Officer" has always attracted the WRONG people for the job.
The dumbest, most despicably HATEFUL and moronically stupid bully
I ever knew in Junior High School is currently a "Police Officer"
back in my PA hometown.

He's thick as a brick, hideously thuggish, and he just struts
about with his badge, looking for folks he didn't like
back in High School.

It's really just that bad there.

18. During my criminal defense years
I worked on the defense of doctors and lawyers, plumbers and road workers, but the single profession I defended the most was police..some were guilty some weren't, just like everyone else who get charged with crimes. I don't think cops really commit more crime than other professions necessarily, I think they are under more scrutiny than most other professions.
