Poll question: CREDO Mobile now has the HTC Hero Android phone. Should I switch?
Yeah, I'm sick of my current phone. I've got a Blackberry 8220 flip phone, which is functional, but very slow, CPU-wise, and I'm sick of waiting 30 seconds for an app to respond after I clicked something. I want a cooler phone, and Android seems to be a top contender.

Credo just announced availability of the HTC Hero. The HTC Hero is offered for $79.95, + a 2 year contract, which sounds like a halfway decent deal. Unlike just about every other provider, CREDO offers to buy out your old provider's contract if you're trapped with another carrier.

It's an OK Android phone - decently cheap, but only has a 512 MHz CPU, while the really top-of-the-line phones have 1 GHz processors these days. It's also got a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, all the usual features to be expected of a respectable smartphone. Even though it's not as fast as some, it's still a quantum leap over my old Blackberry. Putting together a plan with similar minutes and an unlimited data plan will be slightly more expensive than my current plan at T-Mobile, but not too rough.

Of course, a lot of you already know that CREDO Mobile is the one and only wireless phone carrier that supports lots of progressive causes. They do use Sprint's network, for complete disclosure.

What do you think. Should I do it?

2. No. You must buy an iPhone
Everyone must buy an iPhone. iPhones are great. iPhones will change your way of life.

I want to marry an iPhone. She will be my perfect mate. My wife agrees.

Get an iPhone.

3. Hated my Blackberry
from the day I got it, almost. Never used it to its full potential yet was paying the fees. From Day One of my Driod I've used it and LOVE it! There is nothing about it I don't love.

6. I make good use of my Blackberry, but find its hardware limited.
Now you know that I'm a relatively hardcore computer geek, because when I shop for phones, I ask questions like "What kind of CPU is in it?" "How fast is it?" "How much memory does it have?" as if I was shopping for a PC.

Unfortunately, I don't have a huge amount of money, so I can't get the top-of-the-line stuff. Ideally, I'd be upgrading to something like a Google Nexus One, but I just don't have the money for that.

That's how I ended up with my current Blackberry - it had the virtue of being cheap, while still being a smartphone (technically.) It's too damned slow though, and I find that aggravating.

I'm looking at the HTC Hero, which should be at least OK in that it has a 512 MHz processor, some GPU functionality so the visual effects will look better, without hogging the CPU, and since it's 3G, it should be much faster in talking to the network and the Internet.
