I saw a brown pelican in the lake by my house today

I rarely see them here 5 miles inland from the Gulf. He dove into the lake swimming and flapping his wings. Then he went on the banks and continued to flap his wings and leave them outstretched to dry in the air and sun.

I so wanted to keep him here safe in the clean lake waters. All I could think of was his brother and sisters who were trapped in oil and would never flap their wings again.

He stayed for about half an hour and flew away. Please, please come back. Bring your friends. Don't go to to the dangerous, oily waters.

If I knew of a way to keep him here, I would have kept him.

many come to the clean water of your area.
