How do you squeeze every possible square inch of usable growing space out of a tiny balcony or deck? When space is an issue but you want to grow much more than just a pot full of essentials, stacked raised beds can do a lot with a small footprint. These raised beds by The Urban Garden stack in various configurations and help you ensure that all of your plants have equal access to the sunlight.

2. Very, very cool! I just glanced, but many look very workable for my teeny, very sunny Arizona
patio.

Thanks!

10. Thanks for this! I have a deck garden growing with a bunch of tomato plants, peppers and herbs.
To save money on containers this year, I purchased wholesale planters I found on Ebay. 4 gallon ones came out to under $3 each, with shipping included.

One of my biggest problems in the past was access to water. My outdoor spigots are not convenient to my second story deck. Schlepping water cans can no longer be an option. I luckily found a hose system on eBay that attaches to ordinary home water faucets. Even with this extreme heat in NY, my plants are doing very well. :)

Next year, I'm thinking of incorporating other ideas, and this article is helpful.

BTW.... I made an upside down planter for a jalapeno plant using a 2 liter soda bottle. My first peppers are starting to grow. :)

12. My friend used to drape plastic sheeting over her plants at night
and then remove it in the morning.. It captured the "free dew", and made watering less necessary, although she originally did it to stop the neighborhood bunnies from helping themselves:)

14. Thanks for the tip on the plastic sheeting. :) It would have to be for the dew alone
as luckily there aren't winged bunnies around here who can fly up to my 2nd story deck!
