Fiat opens massive dealership in Paris; Jeep vehicles to be sold in it

The Fiat and Chrysler partnership is kicking things off in Paris with a brand spanking new retail store that will feature both Fiat and Jeep models at the Motor
Village dealership along Champs-Elysees in Paris. In addition to having Fiat and Jeep vehicles in the super duper dealership, Fiat will also be showcasing a slew of their other brands, including Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and Maserati.

The store’s opening earmarked the first occasion wherein the Fiat-Chrysler collaboration was publicly displayed in any of Fiat’s worldwide chain of dealerships.

It also doesn’t come as any surprise to us that Fiat is aggressively pushing Jeep into the European market because of its strong desire to see the off-road brand become the largest selling American marquee in Europe. As for the other brands under the Chrysler umbrella, Fiat – who, by the way, owns 20% of Chrysler – is rebadging Chryslers into Lancias while keeping the Dodge brand as a niche market across the Atlantic.

Chrysler hired a second shift at the Grand Cherokee factory in Detroit to build more new improved Grand Cherokees, the world's best SUV.

3. The Rubicon is a capable vehicle, except that it's overloaded with electronic crap that will fail

4. The Rubicon, like most all of the Wrangler models is/was very capable.

Has been for...decades. When properly outfitted, damn near unstoppable.

Depending what one actually wants from an "best" SUV, luxury, safety or off road performance. Sorry, but that's not made here. Sure as hell isn't a Grand Cherokee.

5. I just drove a 110k miles on the clock 2007 Wrangler Unlimited 1500 miles and averaged 24 mpg

What electronic crap? It's pretty basic. BTW, 4.0L Wranglers are well known to be one of the longest lasting most durable vehicles made. 250k miles is typical, some people have over 500k miles

Chrysler has a new V6 that gets much better gas mileage and is the powerplant for the new world beating Grand Cherokee, Wranglers get it next year. BTW, reviews of the new Grand Cherokee are off the charts, a true Range Rover, Land Cruiser, 4runner destroyer. You got to see it in person, it's Rolexlike and you can get a HEMI to give Porsche SUV's a hard time.

New 4x4 Grand Cherokees have to cross the Rubicon Trail just like a Wrangler to be "Trail-rated"

7. Damn near every control feature of the car has integral electronic bits
Edited on Mon Jul-12-10 11:27 PM by depakid
Even the suspension!

No way would I rely on that vehicle to do anything other than take the kids to their soccer match (which of course is what most Americans use them for anyway- so most of this is waste).

As to a wrangler getting 24 all around. Well, maybe a certain riving style might squeeze that out. I've never managed to with rentals.

Those Grand Cherokees will be on sale here soon too. If their owners are lucky, there'll be someone in a 'zook to pull 'em out when they get bogged.

Urban Fuel
31 mpg

Extra Urban
46.3 mpg

Combined
39.2 mpg

8. I'd go for the Range Rover Bowler Nemesis.
Truly the BEST suv built no matter the need. You could buy this today, drop the kid off at football practice then go win a rally race.

9. Cool, but it looks like it costs heaps- and will spends heaps of time in the garage!
One of the things about 'zooks is that they're inexpensive to purchase and to run- and bombproof to boot.

In a sense, Chrysler's making a decent move with their new rig. They can't compete on the price or fuel economy with the Grand Vitara- and they'll have a tough time going head to head with the European models on the "cool looking" or on road performance factor- but they can pack a lot of fancy features and a big engine into their vehicle- and as long as it nothing breaks- claim reasonable off road performance.

They won't be cheap around these parts, though. They'll start at above $60,000!

6. good news for belvedere,il!
crappy electronics but otherwise a quality product.thanks to the 3/4 billion dollar investment by Mercedes Benz the belvedere facility is the most efficient auto assembly plant in the usa. looks like another 250 million dollar investment in the facility might come true.
