2. don't know which jackasses you're referring to, but...

...think about it from a candidate's perspective. Any public appearance is before an audience, and audiences have discrete characteristics, depending upon their social location. If Obama has 50% approval, might that suggest that half the audiences a given candidate might address would DISAPPROVE of any association between the candidate and Obama? That makes sense to me. In that situation, candidates would be foolish to associate themselves with Obama when addressing those audiences. It's be like trying to capitalize on a David Duke endorsement in an address to the NAACP.

5. Wrong, methinks...

For one thing, the "disapproval" number is not 50%, there's a margin in between suggesting some people aren't moved one way or the other.

For another thing, check out the full list of past president approval ratings and you'll see that Obama's are above that of many of the patron saints of the GOP. Those numbers are all over DU today... I'd hunt them down for you but I'm just checking in here quickly... back to work!

.............Americans are showing their complete hatred of President Obama with his abysmally low 50% approval rating, AND that disillusionment with Obama's policies has caused a huge groundswell of Americans to feel wistful about the Bush days, when our president enjoyed a 23% approval rating.

Just to sum up, the guy with the 50% approval rating is as popular as cholera, while the guy with the 23% approval rating is as popular as the snow cone vendor in the middle of the Sahara. Up is down, white is black, war is peace. I wonder if Orwell will be mentioned in the same breath with Nostradamus in 100 years or so.
