2 officers out of jobs in wake of repeated Tasering of woman

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Janice Wells called the Richland Police Department when she feared a prowler was outside her clapboard house in the rural west Georgia town.

The third-grade teacher had phoned for help. But within minutes of an officer coming to her backdoor, she was screaming in pain and begging not to be shocked again with a Taser. With each scream and cry, the officer threatened her with more shocks.

"All of it's just unreal to me. I was scared to death," Wells said in an interview with the AJC. "He kept tasing me and tasing me. My fingernails are still burned. My leg, back and my butt had a long scar on it for days."

3. What is it with cops and tasers these days
I don't remember so many cops going out of their way to hurt people before they all had these "non-lethal" weapons. Now if you get caught jaywalking it seems like you stand a pretty good chance of pissing yourself while you do the headless chicken on the sidewalk.

It's not like they just hammer you with it once either, once they get you on the ground some of these guys like to keep it coming.

4. Police training is all about keeping the officer safe and at a distance.
It has nothing to do with protecting the public. The taser is just a favorite toy.

5. Tasers are cops IPhones... they have a tad more power and come
in several designer colors... it only has one killer app tho.

"Smith resigned just as Ogle started the process to fire him, the chief said. Smith now works for the Chattahoochee County Sheriff's office."

Apparently that was a good resume item.

8. It is fair to say that there is something wrong with police.
They taser/tase each other then laugh afterwards. Mentally ill group with an IQ on par with Sarah Palin.
