Interview with 4'11" Viral Videographer Bullied @ Oil Spill By Police
The woman who filmed and was bullied by an officer that is referred to in this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x482859 did an interview today and it's quite fascinating. She was filming when a BP oil spill worker got sick and multiple ambulances were called, and a cop 4 times her size started bullying her away from the scene at the request of a BP person.

Link to the interview: http://www.midweekpolitics.com/2010/07/july-14-2010/ The specific part with Marguerite Cravatt starts at the 17 minute mark.

5. Actually...

"bright" is hardly a way to describe her investigative/journalistic skills.

For one thing... anyone with any common sense, real world experience, street savvy, etc, knows that it's useless to continually argue
with a cop over anything... let alone a situation that doesn't involve them.

So... why even go there?

Throwing out phrases like "I'm an American Citizen"... "I have a Constitutional right", etc serves no purpose and only escalates the situation.

Sure... she has the right to say and speak whatever is on her mind, but a smarter and more experienced person would have chosen their words more carefully if they wanted to get to the bottom of things.

I work as a firefighter/EMT and it's not always an easy job.

It's not that uncommon when we (I), respond to an incident and some busy body steps in asking questions that don't pertain to them
and only get in the way.

I (or someone else), have no problem with shutting them down too.

"Bully"? I think the cop handled himself pretty well (and yes... he is a monster.. at least he didn't Taze her).

If she wanted a story/non-story, fine... there are other ways to go about it.

"Bright"? I'd say it's more like epic fail.

Now that that's out of the way, she is tiny, but looks like she works out a bit... and she's smokingly hot!

6. gotta agree with you on this
If anyone came across as a bully it was her. I thought the cop handled himself well also in the face of her being so shrill and obnoxious. No, I don't agree that she had a right to know what was going on with the health of the worker... that's a privacy thing the worker (if it even was a worker at all) has a right to. If I'm hurt or ill and need emergency medical care I wouldn't think the general public had any right to know why or film my being cared for, and I most certainly wouldn't want the care workers to be disrupted by anyone when they need to be working on taking care of me.

Sure the public has a right to know if workers on the clean up are getting sick in GENERAL, but she has no idea if this person was even a worker or that anything having to do with the work caused any illness or injury... for all she knows the person being cared for got heat stroke and wasn't even a clean up worker. She doesn't have the right to interfere or film the patient or to know anything specific about what is wrong with the patient. If I was the patient I'd be damned pissed off that she was trying to film me, find out about private medical information concerning me and interfering with the people trying to care for me.

She was obnoxious and shrill with no regard to the interference of medical personnel and tried to invade medical privacy rights of the patient. She's probably the most crappy example of a journalist I've ever seen.
