I will continue to advocate for health care reform as long as my friends have to hold
fundraisers for their families medical treatment.

Do you think this is wrong of me? I have a fb friend (actually the bully of my old neighborhood) that is a textbook neo-con. That is, up until about 16 months ago. He found out that his daughter needed an operation on her heart, and that they couldn't afford it. After holding several raffles, bake sales, and fundraisers, he was able to pay for his daughters operation.

Every-time he posts something political on FB, I always change my status to "I will continue to advocate for health care reform as long as my friends have to hold fundraisers for their families medical treatment." I don't reply to his posts, I just post "I will continue to advocate for health care reform as long as my friends have to hold fundraisers for their families medical treatment" as my status.

When this guy posts about needing more money for his daughter's care, I always reply that my prayers are with them (he knows that I cannot afford my own medical treatment, so he never tries to get money from me). I never tout single payer or reform posts on his calls for help.

A couple people mentioned that I was being rude with my "I will continue to advocate for health care reform as long as my friends have to hold fundraisers for their families medical treatment" posts. Do you think that this is wrong of me?

1. What's better? Political victories, or your friends not having to fundraise?
If you say the later, you instantly imply you'd rather see President Palin in office in 2012!

8. Yes
You see, focusing on passing substantial reform detracts from the ability to pass countless hollowed-out bills in record-time. If all one's powder gets wet on a big boom, will they really have enough political capital to pass the quantity of reforms required to convince voters to vote for them? And, since reality is a false dichotomy, either the Democrats pass countless, hollow legislation, or Palin specifically will automatically win.

(please give me a break here. I just joined the BOG and haven't had much practice at this)

2. I think you're doing exactly the right thing!
You are not being rude; those accusing you of that are the ones who are.

They just cannot, for whatever reason, see the truth.

Good for you!

3. No, I don't see how this is wrong. Maybe someone else might, but
it highlight the situation that most developed countries don't have to worry about, and that is access to affordable health care. It still is a chronic issue. The haves vs. The have nots. Some believe that some magic happened and now those who need treatment can now afford it.

6. no you are not being rude, and it isn't wrong-- that pathetic excuse for a "health care reform "
bill did not even begin to fix our broken system.
