Psst.. that's the fucking

DEFENSE BUDGET

Cut it by 90% and you'll be shocked how quickly you can cut the deficit. Pull out all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan (declare it a loss) and leave the country up to its head of state. The perpetual war of aggression has to end right now.

Go, huh? both of you numbnuts. Take a nice fat look at this pie chart.

And it's past time to cut the fat off the rich. Big time. And redistribute it.

1. $436 Million a Day to support War in Afghanistan....
I do not have a Doctorate in Mathematics or Economics... but $436 Million Dollars a day while American's go hungry...?

Being the extremely intelligent and omniscient person that I am.. I would have to say that we look at better ways to spend $436 Million?

Call me crazy.. I'm just sayin'.....

3. "Guns or butter?"
Pass the butter, and I'll take another slice of bread, thanks.

The military can have their trillion dollar budget back once we have all our depts paid off and we're running a surplus.

30. How fucked up is that?
Isn't it proof that our so called "leaders" don't really give a shit about us and have an alternate agenda in mind? I'd say follow the money, but that's the great/horrible thing about war - it's so easy to make a profit off of it cause of the turmoil and corruption everywhere that it's impossible to follow. How many trillion just plain went missing in Iraq - and we continue to fund this murderous insanity, every day.

END THE WARS NOW!

13. And by 1945 the US military had totally defeated the Wehrmacht, the Luftwaffe, the Kriegsmarine
The Waffen SS, the Imperial Japanese Navy, the Imperial Japanese Army, and the Imperial Japanese Air Force as well as random Italian and other Axis forces.

Now our bloated military can't subdue some tenth century goatherds living in caves and mud huts.

14. Take the military back to where it was in 1939?
Are you serious?

Do you know how long it took us to defeat two countries with the two most advanced armed forces of the times?

Do You!!!

Why it took us half the time it is taking us to defeat Afghanistan which has no army, navy, or air force!

And you want to go back to that! Shame on you!

21. And, for way less money.
Back then, the military did everything itself, including transporting troops and equipment, cooking, engineering, security, running the PX... Now, we're paying contractors, like Halliburton and Blackwater to do that--for five or six times what it would cost had the military done those things themselves. Cut off the private contractors, and we would save BILLIONS PER YEAR.

11. That's a fine idea....BUT!
It's time to point out that the military budget goes where corporations go, and that it is used to prop up the American Way of Life. If it weren't for the resources stolen from other countries, how could 5% of the world's population use 28% of the world's resources without any hitch in the US?

12. Congress and Obama must first revise the NIE so the threat to our nation is less than stated. DOD
plans for forces to counter that threat.

Either the NIE threat is valid as currently approved and therefore DOD requirements are valid OR the NIE threat is overstated and DOD forces are excessive.

A president is 100% responsible for preparing the NIE that in turn is approved by select committees of the Senate and House.

Those who blissfully pronounce "Cut the defense budget" should understand the keystone nature of the NIE.

29. Live by the park, be buried in the park
It's not a bad idea.
That way it would be "a walk in the park" as to where your ashes would be spread.

I want my ashes to do some good after I shuffle off of this mortal coil.
Or dance a jig off of the edge of the map, whichever comes first.

18. I posted this very chart earlier today
but the thread got locked. It's glaringly obvious where the cuts need to come from-but our politicians are so committed to pork barrel military projects that the obvious never gets a mention.

22. It's not just their pet pork barrel projects...
It's their big-donor private contractors (e.g. Halliburton, Blackwater, KBR) to which they are so beholden.

24. Close ALL the military sites (more than 700 in 30+ countries), bring home
ALL the troops and their families (the ones who are on accompanied tours), sell off the equipment that might be too large (and not too dangerous to leave behind) to ship home.

Saves a butt load of money now being spent on lease payments and upkeep for those sites. By placing all those troops and families in US bases that were downsized provides a simulus for those local economies.

Reduce the overall size of the military via normal attrition and reduced recruiting efforts, until a force sufficient for the actual defense portion of the Department of Defense is reached, and then maintain that.

Stop being policemen to the world.
