News Crew Tests Alabama Beach Water, One Sample Explodes

A news crew heads to Alabama beaches to do some testing of what looks like relatively normal waters. They took the water right where the beach-goers go swimming.

What they found is generally not so surprising. But amazingly one sample tested exploded.

.…Water and sand along Alabama’s coast should contain no more than five parts per million of oil or petroleum, according to Bob Naman, an analytical chemist. But, the samples we collected tested much higher.

From 16 ppm to 221 ppm, our results are concerning. Even more disturbing is what happened to a sample collected from the Dauphin Island Marina near oil containment boom.…(source: wkrg news 5)

Some of the tests showed up to 221 parts per-billion of oil in the water. .........(more)

2. The lives of the people who live and work in the Gulf Spill area will never be the
same again. A repeat of the Navajo uranium miners and their families How incredibly sad!!!!

3. What makes me sick is that want to hide the truth to the people - Why?
So they can make $$$$$$$$ who cares if people get ill. Probably the same people that were against HCR.

4. This is so depressing. Back in the 1950s when I lived in Mobile,
Dauphin Island was clean and beautiful. What a terrible crime.

This is what oil does to our environment. We burn it. It comes out of our chimneys and gas tanks. And we breathe it. What fools we are!

We probably will never be able to live without oil, but we need to change to less harmful sources of energy much sooner than now planned.

The Obama administration needs to move really fast on this.

This is another issue on which the Bush legacy is very hard to deal with. Bush did next to nothing on energy independence and on freedom from oil.
